Zebra Label Printer: Not Printing or Not Connecting

What to do when your Zebra label printer won't print shelf labels, shows as not connected, or prints a test page but nothing from Santé.

Use this guide if your Zebra label printer won't print shelf labels, shows as not connected, or prints a test page but nothing from Santé. (If you have the Brother label printer that connects to the PAX Hub, see Label Printer Fixes instead.)

Your Zebra printer connects to the register computer and prints through a small helper program called Zebra Browser Print. Most label problems are fixed by the first two steps below.

1. Refresh the page and print again

If a test print works but shelf labels won't print — or a label seems "stuck" — refresh the Santé page in your browser, then try printing the label again.

This clears a stuck print queue and is the most common fix.

2. Check that Zebra Browser Print is running

Look at the system tray (arrow icon at the bottom-right corner of your Windows screen, near the clock) for the Zebra Browser Print icon.

  • If you don't see it, open Zebra Browser Print from the Start menu, then try printing again.

  • If your computer restarted recently, the program may not have started back up automatically.

3. Reconfigure the printer in Santé

If Santé still says the printer isn't connected:

  1. In Santé, go to the Hardware page.

  2. Find your label printer and run the configuration again.

  3. Follow along with this video: How to reconfigure your Zebra label printer

Note: if your browser shows a "Not secure" warning during configuration, that is normal and safe to continue past — it's how the printer talks to your computer locally.

4. Power-cycle the printer

Turn the Zebra printer off, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on, and make sure:

  • The power light is solid (not blinking).

  • The label roll is loaded correctly and the cover is fully closed.

  • The USB cable between the printer and the computer is firmly seated at both ends.

Then refresh the Santé page and try again.

5. Labels print, but text is cut off

If labels print but titles or prices run off the edge, the label template needs adjusting (smaller text, or fields repositioned). Template changes can break printing if a field is moved off the label edge — if this happens after you edited a template, undo the change or message us and we'll fix the template with you.

Still not working? Message us

Contact support if:

  • The Hardware page says the printer needs setup and configuration won't complete.

  • Zebra Browser Print is running in the tray but Santé still says not connected.

  • The setup wizard keeps looping back to the same screen.

  • You have to re-link the printer every day.

These usually need us to connect to your register remotely — it takes a few minutes. When you message us, include your register number and a photo of any error message so we can move fast.
