A Variety Sale puts a specific list of products on sale, with each product getting its own price or its own percentage off. Use it when the products in the sale are not related by category or threshold and you simply want to name them individually.
This is the right type for a weekly ad, a shelf tag sale, or a clearance list. If instead you want a discount that triggers on cart size or spend, use an Automated Promo.
Create the promotion
Go to Products > Promotions.
Click Create promotion in the top right.
Enter a Name. This shows to the customer at checkout.
Leave Enabled on.
Under Channels, choose Store, Online, or both.
Open the Promo Type dropdown and choose Variety sale.
Add your products
Search for a product by name or scan its barcode, then add it to the list. Each product you add becomes its own row.
For each row, set either:
a percentage off the regular price, or
a promotional unit price, which is the exact price the customer pays.
Set one or the other per row, not both. Rows are independent, so a single Variety Sale can mix percentage discounts and fixed prices across different products.
Per row expiration
A row can carry its own expiration date, separate from the promotion's schedule. This is useful when most of an ad runs for a full week but two items end early. When a row expires, that product returns to its regular price while the rest of the sale continues.
Large sales
If you are adding a large number of products, the editor switches to a staged workflow. You build the list, then publish it in one operation rather than saving row by row. Wait for the publish to finish before leaving the page.
Once a promotion has been edited in the newer editor, it stays there. You will not be able to go back to the older editing view for that promotion.
Settings worth reviewing
Exclude products that already have a promo price. If a product in your Variety Sale is also covered by another promotion, these settings decide whether it counts toward that other promotion and whether it gets discounted twice.
Non discountable products. A product, or a specific pack of a product, can be marked non discountable. If a row in your Variety Sale is not discounting, check this first. It overrides the sale.
Schedule the sale
Turn on Schedule promotion and set the start and end date and time. For a weekly ad that runs Saturday morning through the following Friday night, set the start and end datetimes rather than relying on turning the promotion on and off by hand.
You can also restrict a sale to certain days of the week or to a daily time window.
Save and check it
Click Create.
Scan one of the products from your list at a register.
Confirm the price that rings up matches what you set, and that the promotion name appears on the line item.
If a product rings at full price, confirm the promotion is enabled, the channel matches, the schedule covers the current time, and the product is not marked non discountable.
