A patient's message language is chosen when you enroll them, and you can change it any time after.
At enrollment
The enrollment form includes a Language dropdown. The options shown are the languages available for the message flow you selected. English is the default, and translated flows (such as Spanish) appear when the program you chose supports them. The patient's automated messages will be sent in the language you pick.
Once a patient type is picked, the Language dropdown under RTM setup shows every language that program supports:
What's covered today
Every message flow is available in English. Spanish is available on around 40 of the most common programs, including the post-op flows (knee, hip, shoulder), low back pain, falls management, lymphedema, vestibular, neurological care, Parkinson's, TMJ, pain management, and hand pain. A small number of programs also carry a one-off translation in another language. If a flow doesn't offer a language, it simply won't appear in the dropdown for that flow.
The language you want isn't in the dropdown?
Language availability depends on the message flow: a flow only offers languages its content has been translated into. If a patient needs a language you don't see, message support with the patient's program and the language. We can tell you whether a translated flow exists, and if not, we'll log it as a request. Languages that haven't been translated yet can't be enabled on the spot.
Changing the language after enrollment
You can switch an enrolled patient's language yourself:
Open Patients and open the patient's row actions.
Choose Edit Patient Info.
Pick the new language from the Language dropdown and save.
The change applies from the next automated message. A check-in that already went out stays in the old language.
Don't see the Language dropdown, or the language you want?
The dropdown shows only for patients with an active RTM program. If the patient is on the Inactive tab, re-activate them first.
It lists only the languages that patient's program supports, the same list the enrollment form shows. If the language is not there, that program has no translation yet. Message us with the program and the language and we will tell you what exists.
What gets translated. The automated check-in texts go out in the patient's language. Messages your team types are sent exactly as written, so write them in the patient's language.
The same Edit Patient Info screen lets you change the days of the week the patient receives texts. To stop texts for a vacation, use Pause Messages in the patient's row actions.
