Florida
Florida has a specific legal process for recording a Declaration of Domicile. If you have already established Florida domicile and can truthfully complete the sworn form, recording it can help document that fact.
If you use the online notary, SavvyNomad will file the form for you automatically. If you notarize in person, you would need to file the form yourself. Filing does not create domicile or establish voter eligibility by itself.
Texas
SavvyNomad's Texas declaration is a private statement of your facts and present intent. We recommend retaining it with your personal records.
SavvyNomad does not submit this declaration for county recording, since it is not an official Texas government form — in contrast with Florida, where it is a government form.
Notarizing it does not mean that Texas DPS, a tax agency, or an election office has approved your residence or domicile. It is simply for your own records.
Is the Texas declaration still useful?
It may help preserve a dated account of your intent alongside evidence of your actual move and connections to Texas. Its value depends on its accuracy and the other evidence.
You can skip this optional step. Do not sign a statement that Texas is already your domicile if that is only a future plan.
