Why Did My Instagram or Facebook Connection Expire?

What the countdown on your Accounts page means, why connections expire early, and how to reconnect

When you connect Instagram and Facebook, you give Scaled Creator permission to post for you. Meta limits how long that permission stays active, so Instagram and Facebook connections expire every 60 days. Reconnecting renews them.

What the countdown means

The countdown on your Accounts page shows how many days are left before each connection reaches its 60-day limit.

Connections can also expire early

Changes to your Facebook or Instagram account, such as a new password or updated security settings, can end the connection before the countdown reaches zero. If your posts or DMs stopped after a change like this, reconnect even if the countdown still shows days left.

What happens when a connection expires

Once a connection expires, Scaled Creator can't post to that platform or send automated DMs there until you reconnect. Your Amazon connection doesn't expire and doesn't need reconnecting.

How to reconnect

  1. Open a private or incognito browser window.

  2. Go to your Accounts page.

  3. Disconnect the expired Instagram or Facebook connection.

  4. Connect it again, selecting your Facebook Page rather than your personal profile.

If you manage more than one Facebook Page, here's how to select the right one when connecting. A private or incognito browser window helps avoid conflicts from saved Facebook and Instagram logins.

Avoiding interruptions

Reconnecting before the countdown runs out can help you avoid failed posts. Any videos that failed while a connection was expired can be posted manually. See My Videos Are Showing as Failed and Not Cross-Posting.

If you've reconnected and videos are still failing, email support@scaledcreator.com with the platform that isn't posting.
