What You’ll Need

  • Access to your Google Analytics (GA4) account

  • Access to your Best of account's admin settings

Step 1: Find Your Google Analytics Measurement ID

  1. Log in to Google Analytics.

  2. Use the search bar at the top of the interface.

  3. Type “Google Tag” and select it from the results.

  4. You’ll see a list of Measurement IDs.

    • The ID starts with “G-” followed by a combination of letters and numbers (for example: G-XXXXXXXXXX).

  5. Locate the correct data stream (usually labeled as “Web”).

  6. Click the copy icon next to the Measurement ID to copy it to your clipboard.

💡 Tip: The Measurement ID is what Google Analytics uses to track activity on your website. Make sure you copy the full ID exactly as shown.

Alternatively:
Follow these directions from Google.

Step 2: Add the Google Analytics Tag to Your Site

  1. Open your Best of admin back-end and choose the ballot you want to add analytics to.

  2. Navigate to:

    • Design

    • General

  3. Locate the field labeled Google Analytics Tracking ID (or similar).

  4. Paste the copied Measurement ID into the field.

  5. Scroll down and click Save.

Please note! You will need to do this for every new ballot. Cloning ballots will bring over the Google Analytics code.

Step 3: Confirm Setup

After saving:

  • Return to Google Analytics.

  • Use Realtime or DebugView to confirm data is being received.

  • It may take a few minutes for tracking to begin.

Summary

  • You can find it by searching for Google Tag inside Google Analytics

  • Copy the ID from the data stream

  • Paste it into your site’s Design → General → Google Analytics settings
