Setting Up DNS Settings

Connect your DNS for your Best of subdomain and email

In this article, we'll provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to configure your DNS settings to ensure smooth operation of your Best of platform. For the best results, this process must be completed at least five days before your launch date.

  • To begin, log into your Best of platform using your credentials.

  • Once logged in, navigate to Organization Settings.

    • You can typically find this option in the left-hand navigation bar.

  • In the organization settings, locate and click on the "Domains" section.

  • Click on the "Add Domain" button.

  • Enter the website URL for your domain.

  • Decide on the subdomain you want to use for your Bestof ballot.

    • Common choices include "bestof." or "vote." followed by your website domain (e.g., vote.website.com).

  • Select the ballot you want your subdomain to link to.

  • Click "Add Domain" to proceed.

  • Once the system processes your domain addition, it will provide you with CNAME records.

    • You need to save these records in your DNS host or website manager.

    • The records will include the type (CNAME), the subdomain name, and the corresponding value.

Updating DNS Records

  • Access your hosting site or DNS management portal.

  • Fill out the CNAME records provided by your Best of platform

  • Save the changes and allow some time for them to propagate, generally an hour to 24 hours.

  • Check your DNS record changes took effect with a DNS Checker, we like the one at https://dnschecker.org/

Validating Email for Domain

  • In addition to DNS records, you'll need to validate your email for the domain.

  • Best of will provide additional CNAME records for email validation.

  • Follow the same process as before to update these records with your DNS host.
