To curate Facebook events:

  1. Log into your Facebook account by visiting https://www.facebook.com/

  2. Once logged in, in the left-hand navigation, click more.

  3. Go down to Events.

  4. Click the "interested" button on the events that you would like to pull into your SceneThink calendar.

  5. Click on Your Events.

  6. You should see a list of all of the events that you have marked interested.

  7. In the top right corner button that says "Add to calendar", hover over that button and right click.

  8. Select "copy link address".

  9. This link will allow the software to pull the events that you selected to your calendar.

Once you have the URL copied, log in to your SceneThink calendar.

  1. Go to Settings in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Scrapers.

  3. Click on "Create a scraper" in the top right.

  4. Enter in the name that you would like for this scraper.

  5. Under "type", select Facebook from the drop down menu.

  6. Click in the URL field and paste the URL that you got from Facebook.

  7. Select whether you would like the scraped events to go to "on calendar" or "staging" from the drop down menu.

  8. "Category override" and "venue override" are optional.

  9. Click on Create scraper.

Notes and considerations:

  • You can only scrape once a day

  • The scrapers do not run automatically. See How to Run a Scraper on the SceneThink Calendar.

  • It can take 24+ hours for those events to reach your calendar (their final location depends on what you selected.)

  • Facebook frequently changes how events are logged in the system, causing the scraper to break. We do not recommend solely using scrapers to populate your calendar.

  • For any Scraper issues, please contact support@cityspark.com and please budget for at least 72 hours for our technical team to take a look.
