Scenethink’s calendar makes it easy to curate events - but how do you know when to use which event type? Here’s an explanation.

Ongoing events

Ongoing Events are events with a multi-day date range and have a start date BEFORE today’s date and end sometime in the future. These ongoing events often have one event listing that encompasses the entire duration of the event. They often are “all day” events - things like museum exhibitions or festivals.

How to set up an ongoing event

Ongoing events are easy to set up - the only criteria is that the event’s start date is before today and end date sometime in the future.

Repeating Events

Repeating events are discrete events that occur at a set cadence. They generally have a start and end time - open mics, happy hours, regular tours, or farmer’s markets could all be repeating events. Repeating events have separate event listings - so calendar admins or event submitters could tweak a specific event’s listing to match. For example, a farmer’s market repeating event could have separate listings with each of the vendors who are planning on attending each date.

How to set up a repeating event

When setting up the event information, click the calendar icon to the right of the start date.

It will pop up a menu so you can set the cadence for when the event should recur. Options include daily, weekly, and monthly. When you have this set as you'd like, hit the "add dates button"

Once you've set the dates for the rest of the events, finish filling out the event form. When you're finished, save the entire event.
