The Business Registration feature allows businesses to ensure they are correctly represented on your nomination ballot. It powers the type-ahead function in the nominations process, making it easier for users to find and vote for registered businesses.

Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up Business Registration:

  1. Access the Design Settings
To enable business registrations, start by navigating to the Design section in your settings panel.

    • Click on Design.

    • Select General.

    • Scroll down until you find the Voting Autocomplete option.

  2. Enable Voting Autocomplete
Once you've located the Voting Autocomplete option:

    • Switch the setting from None to From Previous Submissions.

    • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.

By enabling this feature, you allow the ballot to display registered businesses in the type-ahead suggestions during the nomination process.

  3. How the Type-Ahead Function Works
When users are filling out a nomination form, the type-ahead feature helps them quickly find businesses based on the first three characters they type.

For example, when nominating a business for "Best Ice Cream," voters can start typing the name of an ice cream shop. After typing at least three characters, a dropdown list will appear with the registered businesses. Only the name and logo of the business will be shown to the public, helping voters select the correct business.

  4. Additional Information for Businesses
Along with the business name and logo, businesses can provide additional details such as franchise locations or other business information. This information can help with outreach for advertising opportunities or contacting finalists.

Registering a Business

  1. Filling Out the Registration Form
If a business wants to be nominated, they must complete a quick registration form. The form asks for basic business details, including:

    • Profile Image (e.g., logo)

    • Links to social media or websites

    • Business Address

    • Categories they wish to be nominated for (e.g., Best Ice Cream, Best Gelato)

  2. Submitter Information
The person submitting the registration must provide their own contact details, including:

    • Name

    • Email address (which must be verified through a code sent via email)

After entering the verification code, the registration process is complete, and the business is officially registered.

  3. Viewing and Editing Registrations
Registered businesses can view and edit their submissions. This allows them to make changes if any information is incorrect or if they need to update details.

Final Notes

  • Type-ahead Function: Once businesses are registered, they will appear in the type-ahead suggestions when voters start typing in the nomination form.

  • Editable Submissions: Businesses can always go back to edit any details, such as correcting typos or updating information.
