How to Set Up Pre-Populated Options for Your Ballot
Pre-populated options, also known as pre-filled or seeded ballots, provide voters with pre-set choices they can select using radio buttons. These options can be used alongside a write-in text box or as a standalone ballot where voters simply choose from the listed options.
Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up Pre-Populated Options:
Access the Ballot Overview
Start by navigating to your Ballot Overview page.
Enter the Ballot Builder
Once on the Ballot Overview, go to the Ballot Builder.
Select the Group
Inside the Ballot Builder, choose the specific group where you want to add or modify pre-populated options.
Choose the Category
After selecting the group, navigate to the category where you want to manage your pre-populated options.
Add or Modify Pre-Populated Choices
In the category section, you'll see a list of existing pre-populated choices. Here, you can:
Sort Options: Arrange them alphabetically or manually by dragging and dropping.
Add New Choices: For example, if a local event, like a foreign fest, is popular in your area, you can add it as an option.
Rearrange Choices: Organize the options however you'd like.
Add Supplemental Text: Include any additional text or instructions.
Save Your Changes
It’s important to remember to click the Save button at the top of the page. If you don’t hit save, your changes will not be applied. Save early and often to avoid losing any updates. (There is an additional save button at the bottom of the page.)
Check Your Changes
After saving, refresh the ballot to see the new pre-populated options live. Voters can easily select one of the pre-filled choices or type in a new option if you’ve enabled a write-in text box.
After refreshing the ballot, you will see the new option alongside previous votes. Voters can either change their vote or select a different option.
