How to Add Additional Fee Policies (Sales Tax, Processing Fees, etc.)

Additional fees allow you to apply supplemental charges to bookings, such as processing fees, sales tax, or any other custom surcharge. This article walks you through how to create, configure, and manage additional fees within your ScheduleDrop account.

Accessing Additional Fees

To access the Additional Fees section:

  1. Click Settings in the bottom-left corner of your dashboard.

  2. Under the General section, select Additional Fees.

This will bring you to the Additional Fees page, where you can view existing fees and create new ones.

Creating an Additional Fee

To create a new additional fee, click Create Additional Fee in the top-right corner of the page. The fee configuration form will open, where you will define each of the following parameters.

Fee Name

Enter a name for your fee. Common examples include "Sales Tax" or "Processing Fee," but you may use this field to create any type of supplemental charge that applies to your bookings.

Fee Type

Select how the fee will be calculated:

  • Percentage — The fee is calculated as a percentage of the booking total.

  • Flat Amount — The fee is applied as a fixed dollar amount.

Fee Amount

Enter the value that corresponds to the selected fee type. For example, a sales tax fee might be set at 6.5% if using the percentage type.

Fee Description

Enter a description for the fee. This description helps identify the purpose of the fee internally and may be displayed to customers depending on where the fee appears.

Customer Fee Checkbox

At the bottom of the form, you will find the Customer Fee checkbox. When checked, the additional fee is automatically applied to the booking price.

This setting is particularly important for fees such as sales tax. When enabled, any booking created through your online booking form will automatically include the fee in the total price shown to the customer.

Note: Even when the Customer Fee box is checked, admins retain the ability to remove the fee from individual bookings when necessary. We recommend enabling this option so that the fee applies automatically to every booking, eliminating the need to add it manually each time.

Saving the Fee

Once all fields are completed, click Save Changes. The new additional fee will appear in your Additional Fees list and will be available for use on your bookings.

Managing Existing Additional Fees

To manage an existing additional fee, locate the fee in your list and click the three dots to the right of the entry, under the Action column. You will have the following options:

  • Edit — Modify the details of the existing fee.

  • Delete — Permanently remove the fee from your account.

Alternative: Fees on the Booking Form

In addition to creating additional fees here, certain fees, such as a same-day service fee, can be implemented directly within the booking form. This allows customers to select the fee option themselves when booking online. Either method is supported, so choose the approach that best fits how you want the fee to function for your business.
