It’s important to know that we don’t just add scholarships to our database. Every single scholarship in our system first undergoes a rigorous vetting process.

Once that’s done, each scholarship receives a rating, or as we call it - the credibility score. The credibility score shows what we “think” about the scholarship: how credible and legitimate we believe it is.

This is what our rating, i.e. the Credibility Score, indicates:

Low score (1-35%)

ScholarshipOwl doesn’t have any contact with these scholarship providers. We would avoid these.

Medium score (36%-69%)

Safe to apply for, but not guaranteed by ScholarshipOwl. You can try, especially if it’s a higher percentage, but don’t get your hopes way up.

High score (70%-99%)

Safe to apply for, because we have a history with these scholarship providers. These are our friends, so keep on applying.

Verified (100%)

These scholarships are extremely safe. Scholarship award payout is guaranteed by ScholarshipOwl. Step right up and apply!

We recommend that the bulk of your applications, if not all, is for scholarships with a Credibility Score of at least 70%, or higher. If the score stands as “verified”, then consider it 100% - meaning, it’s 100% safe to apply for that scholarship because you will 100% receive the scholarship award if you win it.
