Hardwiring your Scout to a vehicle's battery is easy and anybody can do it.

Be sure you have a Scout hardwiring kit, included with any Motorcycle/ATV version of Scout. Hardwiring units are also available for sale on www.findmyscout.com if you need a replacement or additional hardwiring unit.

The first step will be to locate the battery on the vehicle or piece of equipment. Every battery will have a positive connector (RED) and negative connector (BLACK).

These colors correspond with the colors on the Scout hardwiring kit as illustrated below:

The positive (RED) wire needs to be securely fastened to the positive (RED) connector on the battery. The negative (BLACK) wire needs to securely fastened to the negative (BLACK) connector. You can securely fasten the positive (RED) and negative (BLACK) wires to their connectors by loosening the clamps connecting the battery to the vehicle.

Once loosened, securely insert the wire between the connector and the clamp. Tighten the clamp back down to prevent the wire from coming loose. Once both wires are securely fastened to their correct connectors, you're all done!

Scout ATV/Motorcycle units also come with industrial velcro which can be used to securely mount your Scout anywhere near the battery. Be sure you are connecting your Scout somewhere stable and unlikely to cause the Scout to encounter extreme levels of heat or movement.
