For Seller 365 and ScoutIQ Standalone LivePro subscribers, ScoutIQ offers three scanning modes found in the Settings section of the app. Each mode is designed for different connectivity scenarios, balancing scan speed, data accuracy, and reliability.
Quick rule of thumb:
No signal → Database Only
Weak signal → Data + Live (recommended)
Strong signal → Live Only
Database Only (Fastest | Offline-Friendly)
Database Only is ScoutIQ’s fastest scanning mode and is designed for locations with no Wi-Fi or very poor cellular service — especially if you’re seeing Network Failure errors or experiencing extremely slow scans.
Scanning speed is fastest because results come from ScoutIQ’s downloaded database, not live Amazon API calls.
Ideal for the backrooms of thrift stores, university basements, warehouses, or rural locations with unreliable signal.
Helps resolve slow scanning caused by poor connectivity.
Important limitations:
Data is not live Amazon data. Data may be up to 48 hours old.
You must download the database at home on a strong, steady, uninterrupted internet connection before you head out scouting.
Title Searches are unavailable in this mode.
Because the database does not include every item on Amazon, you may occasionally see:
“No Results Found” (ScoutIQ original)
“Product Not Found” (ScoutIQ 2)
ScoutIQ’s database includes over 14 million books and media items in the U.S. — the largest offline database of any scouting app — but Amazon currently lists 20+ million items, with new ones added constantly. Gaps are expected, and that’s where the next mode shines.
Data + Live (Recommended | Best All-Around)
Data + Live is our recommended scanning mode and works best when your connection is slow but not nonexistent.
This mode:
Scans the database first for maximum speed
Automatically performs a live Amazon lookup only if the item isn’t found in the database
Why this matters:
Prevents “No Results” / “Product Not Found” errors encountering items not found in the ScoutIQ Databse.
Maintains fast scanning while filling database gaps
Adapts seamlessly as connectivity fluctuates
If you’re sourcing in places where signal is inconsistent or unreliable, Data + Live gives you the best balance of speed and accuracy.
Live Only (Most Current Data | Connection Dependent)
Live Only provides real-time Amazon data for every scan.
Best used when you have a strong Wi-Fi or cellular signal
Scanning speed depends entirely on connection quality and Amazon API response time
Ideal when up-to-the-minute pricing and eligibility data is your top priority
If your signal weakens, scans may slow down — this is expected behavior in Live Only mode.
If you receive the error "The item you have scanned is not found on Amazon." it means just that, and is not related to scanning mode.
Live Lookups — Anytime
No matter which scanning mode you’re using, you can always refresh a specific book with live Amazon data by tapping the LIVE icon on the scout screen.
