To ensure the best performance for your digital signage, ScreenCloud Arc is optimized for specific hardware configurations. While it supports a wide range of third-party devices, performance may vary depending on your setup.

In this guide, you’ll find an overview of supported operating systems, minimum requirements, and recommended hardware to help you choose the right device and ensure a smooth ScreenCloud experience.

ScreenCloud Hardware: PIXI and SCOS

ScreenCloud’s native hardware is designed to eliminate the inconsistencies often found on devices that require installing the ScreenCloud app separately.

PIXI

PIXI is ScreenCloud’s most affordable, high-performance media player, designed to bridge the gap between low-cost streaming sticks and enterprise-grade devices.

Setting Up ScreenCloud Hardware

If you’re using a secure or restricted network, first ensure that connections to ScreenCloud services are allowed. You can review our whitelisting guide to prepare your network before setup.

For advanced or enterprise network configurations, you can apply settings to ScreenCloud OS hardware using USB configuration here.

Once ready, connect your device to your network using WiFi or Ethernet. A pairing code will appear on screen, allowing you to link the device to your ScreenCloud account and start setting up content. You can learn more about pairing your first screen here.

After the device is connected, its IP and MAC address can be viewed in the ScreenCloud Player side menu, in case this is needed for an advanced network setup.


The ScreenCloud Player for Third Party Hardware

If you’re not using ScreenCloud hardware such as PIXI or devices running ScreenCloud OS (SCOS), you can still use ScreenCloud Arc with a range of supported third-party devices.

The ScreenCloud Player is the application that runs on your device and displays your content on screen. Installation methods vary depending on the operating system.

For Android and Google TV, the Player is installed via the Google Play Store. For Windows and macOS, the Player is installed using a downloadable installation file. Other platforms, such as ChromeOS, LG webOS Signage, Samsung Tizen, and BrightSign, require platform-specific setup methods, which may involve enterprise tools, device management settings, or dedicated signage configurations.

ScreenCloud Player Setup Overview

  1. Install the ScreenCloud Player on your device

  2. Open the app to generate a pairing code

  3. Log in to your ScreenCloud account

  4. Enter the pairing code to link your screen

  5. Assign content to your screen

Once installed, the Player connects to your ScreenCloud account using an on-screen pairing code, allowing you to easily assign and manage content across your screens. Each screen pairing requires a license to use from your subscription.

ScreenCloud Arc supports a range of operating systems when using third-party hardware. Each platform must meet the minimum OS requirements below to ensure compatibility and performance. You can also find quick setup steps for each platform in the sections below.

The ScreenCloud Player requires a stable internet connection, with Ethernet recommended over WiFi for greater reliability where possible.

ScreenCloud Player Settings

The ScreenCloud Player includes a Settings side menu for managing your screen and accessing device information. While available options may vary by device and operating system, the core functionality remains consistent across most platforms. On ScreenCloud hardware, the Player is built in, so no additional installation is required.

How to Open the ScreenCloud Player Settings

The menu slides in from the right side of the screen and may appear black or white.

ScreenCloud Hardware

  • PIXI
    Press the OK button on the remote while the Player is running to open the side menu

  • ScreenCloud OS (SCOS – Station P1 Pro)
    Use a wired mouse and click on the screen's top right (transparent button) to reveal the side menu. You can also connect a wired keyboard and select 'M'.

Third-Party Devices

  • Android (incl. Google TV) / Amazon (Fire TV) / LG webOS Signage / Samsung Tizen
    Press the remote’s select or OK button while running the Player to open the side menu.

  • Android tablet / touchscreen

    On the Player, swipe to the left from the right edge of the screen.

  • Windows and macOS

    Click anywhere on the Player screen to open the settings sidebar

    Or right-click → “Toggle Settings Menu”.

  • ChromeOS

    Settings are managed in Chrome Device Management.

  • iPadOS (iOS)

    While in the Player, Press and hold the screen (~2 seconds) to open the settings panel.

  • BrightSign

Player Settings Sidebar Overview

The Player Settings sidebar provides quick access to key controls for maintaining performance, and troubleshooting your screen. The settings listed below represent the most common features available across the different Players. It also includes useful device and system information to help with setup and support.

  • Start at Boot - Automatically launches the Player when the device powers on

  • Daily Restart - Schedules a daily reboot to maintain performance

  • Sticky Mode - Keeps the Player running and prevents users from exiting (kiosk-style mode)

  • Interactive Mode - Enables touchscreen support for ScreenCloud Touch (not available with ScreenCloud Arc)

  • Reset Pairing - Generates a new pairing code to reconnect the screen

  • Reload - Refreshes the Player

  • Restart Player - Restarts the Player app

  • Clear Cache - Clears stored data to resolve playback issues

Recommended Hardware Settings for Optimal Screen Performance

For optimal digital signage performance:

Core setup

  • Enable Start at Boot

  • Enable Sticky Mode (if available)

  • Disable any sleep, power-saving, or standby modes on your screens

Stability and performance

  • Enable Daily Restart (set during off-hours)

  • Keep the Player updated to the latest version (enable auto updates)

Network reliability

  • Use Ethernet over WiFi where possible

  • When using WiFi, ensure the device has a strong, stable connection

Display configuration

  • Disable auto-rotate on displays, as ScreenCloud manages screen orientation automatically

Remote device management

  • Use RDM to monitor screen status, push commands, and troubleshoot devices without being on-site

  • Restart or reboot screens remotely when they go offline or stop responding

  • View device health, connection status, and player version across your entire screen estate from one place

Troubleshooting

  • Use Clear Cache and Restart Player to resolve playback issues

  • Reboot (power off and on) the screen if it goes offline to restore connection

With these elements in place, your ScreenCloud content is set to run smoothly and reliably on your hardware.
