Remote Device Management (RDM) allows you to monitor and control your ScreenCloud devices directly from your ScreenCloud account without needing physical access to the screen or device. When a device is RDM connected, you can perform actions, view device details, and manage settings all from one place.
How to Access RDM
RDM is accessible from the screen settings panel as you view your screen by scrolling down to Remote Device Management on the right-hand side panel. If your device is online , you will see a green RDM Connected status indicator.
RDM Actions
When RDM is connected, the following actions are available:
Refresh
Refreshes the content currently displaying on the screen
Restart
Restarts the ScreenCloud player app on the device
Reload
Reloads the device information shown in the RDM panel (Summary, Storage, Memory, etc.).
Reboot
Performs a full reboot of the device hardware
Clear cache
Clears the locally stored cache on the device
Screenshot
Captures a screenshot of what is currently displaying on the screen
Network
Views the current network connection details for the device
Mute
Mutes the audio output on the device
Advanced RDM (ScreenCloud OS)
Devices running ScreenCloud OS have access to a further set of RDM tools, covering display output, power scheduling, and deeper network and device settings. To access these, open the screen's RDM panel and click View More.
Display Output
Adjust the resolution, refresh rate, and content scaling for the device's output, based on what the connected display supports. Click Change Settings to adjust these.
Setting | Description |
Resolution | The screen resolution used by the device. Available options depend on what the display supports. |
Refresh Rate | The refresh rate for the screen. Available options depend on what the display supports. |
Aspect Ratio | Set by the display and can't be adjusted. Size your content or channel to match this ratio. |
Content Scaling | Choose between Smaller text, More space, Recommended, and Larger text. |
If the connected display supports HDMI CEC, two further options appear:
Setting | Description |
HDMI CEC Display Status | Turn the display on or off remotely. |
Lock HDMI Input Source | When locked, the display automatically switches back to this device around 60 seconds after another HDMI source is selected. |
Display Output is only available for ScreenCloud OS version 3 and higher.
Screen Power Schedule
Screen Power Schedule automates when your screen turns on and off, sending power commands directly to your display via HDMI CEC on a recurring weekly basis, rather than managing power manually.
Screen Power Schedule requires:
A ScreenCloud OS powered Station P1 Pro running OS version 3 or above
A display that supports HDMI CEC, with the device connected to the display's HDMI CEC port rather than a standard HDMI port. If supported, the Screen Power Schedule tab appears in the screen's settings
RDM online — the tab isn't accessible while the device's RDM connection is offline
Each schedule entry includes:
Setting | Description |
Time | When the schedule triggers. |
Days | Which days of the week it applies to. |
Power | Sets the action to on or off. We recommend setting both a power on and a power off schedule, unless you intend to manage one of them manually. |
Input source | Switches the display to a specific connected device when the schedule triggers, useful for shared spaces where the display needs to show different sources at different times. Select ScreenCloud to switch to the ScreenCloud OS device. Not available on Power Off schedules. |
Delay | Adds a buffer, up to 30 seconds, after the device boots and before the power on command is sent, useful if the display takes longer to start up. Not available on Power Off schedules. |
You can add as many schedule entries as you need on a single screen, for example different on and off times for weekdays versus weekends. Schedules repeat weekly; there's no one-off or date-specific scheduling. Screen Power Schedule is only supported on ScreenCloud OS Station P1 Pro devices, and isn't available on other ScreenCloud players.
Network (ScreenCloud OS)
ScreenCloud OS devices show a fuller set of network details than the standard Network action above, including:
Setting | Description |
BSSID | The MAC address of the access point or router the device is connected to. |
CA Certificate & Client Certificate | Shown once added to the device. |
DNS, Domain, Duplex, Mode, NTP, Proxy, Routes, Security, Signal, Speed, and SSID | Additional network details displayed in the panel. |
You can export these details by selecting Export JSON.
Settings
Setting | Description |
Timezone | The timezone for the screen, so content displays relevant information for the viewer. |
Hostname | The device's network hostname. |
Daily Restart | Enable or disable a scheduled daily restart, and choose the time. This restarts the player app only, so the device's uptime and connected duration are unaffected. |
Trusted Sites Certificate | Add a certificate for your secure network. Once added, its expiry date is shown. |
Health
A more detailed breakdown of device performance is available under Health, including uptime, average CPU load over the last 1, 5, and 15 minutes, memory usage (MemTotal, MemFree, MemAvailable, Buffers, Cached), filesystem and userdata usage, and SoC and GPU temperatures. You can export this data by selecting Export JSON.
Amazon Signage Stick RDM
The Amazon Signage Stick supports its own set of RDM tools, thanks to Amazon's Signage Remote Management API. Alongside the actions above, Amazon Signage Stick devices also support:
Power
Turn the connected display on or off remotely, using the display's HDMI-CEC capabilities.
HDMI Status
Confirm whether the device is properly connected to a display, to help identify HDMI-related issues.
Display Output
Review the display's connection details, including:
Resolution, Refresh rate, and Aspect ratio
HDMI connected, CEC enabled, and Active source
Monitor, Manufacturer, and Model
You can also turn the display on or off from here if it's connected via HDMI CEC.
The ability to control power or mute depends on the display's HDMI-CEC support, which varies by manufacturer and model.
Release channel
You can select which release channel the device receives player updates from:
Stable
The default and recommended option. Receives fully tested and approved player updates
Canary
An early access channel for testing new player features before they are released to the stable channel. Only recommended for testing purposes

What does RDM connected mean?
RDM Connected means your device is actively communicating with ScreenCloud and all remote actions are available. If your device shows as RDM disconnected or the RDM panel is unavailable, this may mean the device is offline or the player version does not support RDM.
The RDM panel shows an explicit RDM Connected (green) or RDM Disconnected (red) status indicator, so you can always check a device's connection state at a glance.
While a device is RDM disconnected:
The list of available RDM actions is reduced to a smaller set of basic actions, rather than the full list described above
The Display Output and Network tabs show a message such as "No display detected" or "Unable to detect a connected network", explaining that this data couldn't be read from the device, along with a Retry option
Device Information still shows the device's last known details, such as Screen ID, Player version, Operating System, and Last Active, though Connected duration will be blank until the device reconnects
