Clearing the Cache for the ScreenCloud Player

How to clear the ScreenCloud Player's cache remotely from your account or directly on each supported platform, and which platforms support each method.

Cache lets the ScreenCloud Player keep showing your last content if a device loses its internet connection. Once a piece of content has played through at least once, the device stores it locally and can keep playing it during a connectivity drop. Streaming content such as YouTube, Vimeo, and live news feeds needs an active connection and cannot be cached.

Clearing the cache is worth trying when a screen is showing stale or outdated content that doesn't match what's set up in your account, since it forces the device to drop what it has stored and fetch everything fresh.

Clearing the cache remotely from your ScreenCloud account

The simplest method, where available, is from the Screens section of your ScreenCloud account rather than on the device itself.

  1. Go to the Screens section of your account.

  2. Find the screen and select its Clear Cache button.

  3. Confirm the action.

The device will need at least one fresh playthrough of its content before it's cached again, so it can briefly play without protection against a connectivity drop right after clearing.

Remote clear cache is available for PIXI, Android, BrightSign, Fire OS, macOS, Windows, Tizen, webOS Signage, ScreenCloud OS, and the Browser player. It is not available for iPadOS or ChromeOS. For those two, clear the cache on the device directly, as below.
