Class Writing Analysis

Generating a Class Writing Analysis

On the Scribo home page, click on the writing activity where you want to create a Class Writing Analysis. You will then see your students’ work.

From here go to the top and click Menu. If you’ve already created an analysis previously for this activity, you will see the option Class Writing Analysis over here.

But if this is your first time, simply click Gen Writing Analysis then Scribo will take a few moments to generate the report. While the report is being generated, you can continue to use Scribo to do other tasks.

Once the report is ready, click on Class Writing Analysis. Here you will get a granular view of your students’ writing performance across the different writing dimensions and categories.

  • Each category will have a breakdown containing different pieces of relevant data. For example in Sentences, you’ll see information such as the sentences written across complexity levels, examples from the students’ work, and information on the variety of sentence length.

  • Each category contains loads of data. You can even click on some of the data points to get even more information. For example, clicking on a sentence complexity level here will show you direct examples from the students’ work.

All this information can be overwhelming, so take your time to go through the entire analysis and familiarize yourself with what each part tells you about your class. You can also click on the Question Mark Icon on the header of each criterion to get a helpful explanation of what these categories show you.

Navigating The Report

Additionally, you are given a couple of tools you can use to easily navigate the analysis.

  • On the top left you have a pie chart containing the different writing categories. The color and covered area in each category instantly tells you where your students are doing well, or where your students need to improve. You can click on any of these categories then you will be instantly taken to that part of the report.

  • Below the pie chart you also have the list of students who participated in this activity. You can click on any of your students to quickly check their work and any feedback left by you or the AI. You’ll also notice that every time you click on a category in the pie chart, the student list automatically gets sorted based on each student’s performance in that particular category.

Other Features

There are also a couple more features you can use on the upper right menu of the report.

  • You can click Skill Range to get a visual representation of your students’ skill levels across the writing categories. Once again you can click on each part of the graph to get more specific information.

  • You can also click Report to Students to share this report with the class. You can select who among your students will gain access to this report and which sections of the report will be visible. You can also choose to email this report to their respective email addresses.

  • Group Comment allows you to leave comments for the entire class. You can choose to leave a comment on their overall performance, or you can choose a specific category you would like to comment on.

  • Lastly, you have the option to hide the students’ names in the report. This allows you to show the analysis in class where you can openly talk about the students’ work while giving them some privacy, especially if they’re still feeling shy about their writing.

There you go! The Class Writing Analysis gives deeper and more specific insights to student performance which teachers can use to meet students where they are at.
