On the Scribo homepage go to the activity where you would like to get feedback and click Open. You should then see what you’ve written on this activity previously.
You can get feedback and use writing checks on your work on the feedback menu on the right.
By default, Scribo gives you a Scribo Score. This is Scribo’s assessment of your work based on the five dimensions of writing. However, if your teacher applied a grading rubric on the writing activity, you will instead see your score based on the rubric. You can click on Open Rubric Grading to check the grading criteria.
On the feedback menu you will see five different writing checks you can use to check and improve your work.
Improve Grammar & Spelling will highlight all your errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
If you like, you can filter your errors based on specific categories to help you navigate through your work.
Hovering your cursor over any of the highlighted errors will give you a concise explanation of your mistake and how to correct it. You can even click on the highlighted word to get more details and suggestions.
However, take note that the amount of detail in this explanation may change depending on your teacher. They can choose to give you more or less information, depending on what you need.
Improve Vocabulary helps you understand your word usage and writing level.
The graph tells you the vocabulary level of the words you used. You can click on each bar in the graph to show which words belong to this level
You will also see your current writing level based on all the words you used in your work.
Scribo also points out words you repeat often. You can filter which repeated words you’d like to see, then click on any of the identified words in your work to get suggested synonyms or alternatives.
Improve Topic Coverage shows you how well you’ve managed to stay on topic in your writing.
Scribo checks how many key words related to the topic you’ve used. These keywords are chosen by your teacher in the activity settings.
You can see how many of the listed keywords and their synonyms you’ve used in the essay and how many keywords you’ve missed.
You can click on any of the keywords you’ve missed to get more suggestions and synonyms of words you can use. Adding more of the missing keywords will help improve your topic coverage.
You can also check which among your paragraphs do not include any key words. Adding key words to these paragraphs may help ensure you are staying on topic from start to finish.
Improve Cohesives helps you check if you’re using transition words correctly in your work.
All the cohesives you used will be highlighted and Scribo will tell you whether you are using too many or too few common cohesives in your essay.
Once again, you can click on any of the highlighted words to get suggestions on to elevate your use of cohesives.
Improve Sentences highlights any errors or Run-on Sentences you may have used in your work.
Scirbo again explains your error and gives you suggestions on how to improve.
You can also filter the sentences in your work based on their complexity. Making sure you have a good variety of sentence types may help make your writing more interesting.
