Listening to Your Essay

Listening to your essay being read out loud can be very helpful in the writing process. Many students only find writing mistakes they made when they actually hear what their essay sounds like.

Luckily, Scribo's got you covered!

In an activity, click on the Reader icon.

You will then see a side by side view of your work and the Reader Menu.

You can click on the Play Button at the bottom to start listening to the essay you wrote.

If you would like to change the way your essay is read to you, you can click on Voice Settings beside the play button to open a menu that allows you to change the speed and tone of the reader's voice.

While listening to your essay, the reader while highlight the word that is currently read so you can follow along with the audio.

You can also change the appearance of the reader text using the buttons in the upper right corner of the menu.

Click on Text Preferences will give you a couple of options to change the text appearance such as the size, font, and background color.

Clicking on Grammar Options let's you highlight specific types of words in your essay while it is being read. This might be helpful if you are trying to check if you are using the different word types correctly.

The last button, Reading Preferences, gives you a few more tools to help you along.

Turning on Line Focus will highlight the current line that is being read while you are listening to your essay.

You can choose to highlight a single line,

or up to three lines.

Lastly, you can even translate your work into another language. This is very helpful if English is not your first language and you would like to check if what your wrote makes sense in your native language.

There you go! Use Reader to get a better feel of your writing and check if there are any errors you may have missed.
