How to Write an Essay using Speech-To-Text

If you have difficulty typing on a keyboard, speech-to-text might be exactly what you need to make sure you can still write your essay and improve your writing skills.

IMPORTANT: Speech-to-text in a writing activity will only be available if your teacher has chosen to turn on this option. If you would like to use speech-to-text in an activity where it is unavailable, try asking your teacher for permission.

In a writing activity, go to the menu on the right and click the Speech button.

If you are using this feature for the first time, a pop up might appear on your web browser asking you to give Scribo permission to access your microphone. You may either choose Allow while visiting the site or Allow this time.

Once you give Scribo Writing access to your microphone, you can now start speaking and your speech will be transcribed into the writing activity. You can stop recording your voice any time by click the Stop button on the menu to the right.

There you go! Speech-to-text is great when typing on a keyboard makes it more challenging for you to write.
