Connecting the AI Traffic Tool to your Google Analytics Account

How to connect your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) account to Scrunch's AI Traffic tab to view referral traffic from AI platforms

Updated over 3 months ago

Overview
The AI Traffic tab in Scrunch lets you monitor how much referral traffic your site is getting from AI platforms—including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, and others. This data is displayed through an embedded Looker Studio dashboard that connects to your existing Google Analytics 4 (GA4) account.

Important: Scrunch does not access, store, or process any of your GA4 data. The dashboard is simply embedded in your Scrunch organization and powered entirely by your own Google login.

What You’ll See

Once your GA4 environment is connected, the AI Traffic dashboard will show:

  • Total sessions and review referred from AI tools

  • Breakdowns by referring platform (ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, Perplexity, and others)

  • Which of your pages are receiving AI-driven traffic

  • Conversion metrics, if you’ve configured goals in GA4

This gives you a clear view of how users are reaching your site from AI platforms and what actions they’re taking once they arrive.

How to Connect

Step 1: Log into your Google account
Make sure you are signed into the Google account that has access to your GA4 property. This must be the same browser session where you’re using Scrunch.
Note: Scrunch uses your browser’s Google login - your Scrunch email has no impact on this connection.

Step 2: Open the AI Traffic tab in Scrunch
Go to the AI Traffic tab within your Scrunch organization.

Step 3: Select your GA4 Property in the dropdown
At the top of the dashboard, choose your GA4 property. The Looker Studio dashboard will load based on your access permissions.

Troubleshooting and Tips

Don’t see your GA4 property?
Double-check you’re signed into the correct Google account in your browser. You can also try refreshing or using an incognito window.

Want to revoke access?
You can remove access to Looker Studio dashboards at any time from your Google account’s permissions settings. Note that Scrunch cannot and will never store or retain your analytics data.

To maximize visibility:
Ensure your GA4 property is configured to track conversions and label landing pages clearly. This will allow you to get deeper insights into which AI channels are driving meaningful results.
