Push notifications and devices

Enable browser push notifications in Chrome, test them, manage connected devices, and view your notification history in Scrypt HQ.

Written by Scrypt Support

The Push Notifications & Devices page lets you enable browser push notifications in Chrome, test that they work, manage connected devices, and view a history of important system notifications such as incoming customer communications and medication orders.

What are push notifications?

Push notifications are real-time alerts that appear on your desktop, even when Scrypt HQ is not open, to keep you informed about key activity such as:

  • A new communication message from a patient (SMS, app, or email).

  • A new customer order.

  • System notifications that indicate outstanding actions required.

These notifications help you stay on top of customer needs without actively checking Scrypt HQ.

Set up push notifications (Chrome only)

Push notifications are currently supported only in Google Chrome.

1. Open the notifications page

Go to Settings > Push Notifications in Scrypt HQ.

2. Enable browser notification permissions

Click Test Browser Notification Ability. Chrome will prompt you to allow notifications.

  • Click Allow when prompted.

  • If you do not see a prompt, follow the instructions below the button to enable notification permissions for your browser.

  • This step is complete when Browser Permission Status shows Enabled.

3. Add your browser as a device

Use the + Add device button to add this computer's browser so Scrypt can send it push notifications. You can also use the Test or Test all devices button to send a test notification to your current or all connected devices.

Manage connected devices

Each browser or device where you enable notifications appears in your Connected Devices list. You can:

  • See which devices are currently active.

  • Revoke access to old or unused devices.

This ensures you only get alerts on devices you still use.

View past notifications

You can view a log of received notifications under the Notification History section, including:

  • When the notification was sent.

  • Which device ID it was sent to.

  • The type of trigger that prompted it, such as SMS, order received, or order updated.

  • The message content.

  • The platform: Scrypt HQ (web) or Scrypt Mobile (mobile).

This is helpful if you accidentally dismissed a notification or want to review recent activity.

Troubleshooting tips

  • Did not receive a test notification? Make sure Chrome has notifications enabled. Go to chrome://settings/content/notifications and make sure Scrypt HQ (hq.scrypt.com.au) is listed under Allowed.

  • Using a different browser? Only Chrome is supported at this time. Support for other browsers is coming soon.

  • Multiple browser profiles? Push notifications are user-specific. Each browser profile must enable them from its own browser.

Best practices

  • Enable notifications on one primary workstation per user to avoid duplicate alerts.

  • Clear out old devices regularly to keep your alerts streamlined.
