Use one of two workflows to manage medications that need to be dispensed every set number of days, for example 21 day dispensing or Schedule 8 medications with repeat intervals.
These workflows assume the medication is dispensed every X number of days, regardless of the medication's calculated total days on hand.
If you want a schedule that also considers the medication's calculated total days on hand and expected consumption, use Order Cycles instead.
Always make sure you have adequate consent from the customer before dispensing any medication on a regular cycle.
Dispensing schedules via CRM reminders
This workflow suits individual medications, or Schedule 8 medications with varying repeat intervals.
In the patient's profile, open the Add Note blade.
Select a Note Type, for example General.
Type a note that identifies the medication you want to dispense, for example "Dispense Coversyl, 21 days".
Set the Start Date to the day the medication is next due to be dispensed.
Select I want this to repeat.
Use Configure Schedule to repeat every X number of days, for example "Every 21 day(s)".
Select Create Task.
The note now shows in the CRM on the date the medication is next due. Follow your normal dispensing procedure, then mark the note as actioned with the green tick. The note reappears in the CRM after the set interval to remind you the medication is due again.
The task reminder recurs every X number of days from the Start Date. If you dispense the medication on a different day, adjust the task reminder accordingly.
Dispensing schedules via dispense runs
This workflow suits large numbers of medications that share the same dispense interval, for example 21 day dispensing.
Create a new drug category
Set the Dispense Interval to the number of days you want, for example 21 days.
Set the Target DOH to 999. This effectively disregards the Target DOH algorithm during the dispense run.
Select Save.
Categorise medications
Go to the patient's profile.
Categorise the medications you want into the new drug category.
Run the dispense run
Go to Scrypt > More > Dispense Run.
Filter by your new drug category.
Select Generate Report.
Once the results load, select the medications you want to dispense.
Select Dispense.
