What is a dispense run?
A dispense run prepares a batch of dispensing tasks. Reports are generated based on groups of patients and categories of medicines. Once prepared, you can select the medicines and automatically push them to your dispensing queue.
This lets you efficiently identify which prescriptions need dispensing to ensure all patients have a minimum number of days on hand (DOH) for each medication.
In the example below, based on the "SN 21 day customers" group, the report prepares a batch of medicines in the "Regular" category that is due for dispensing.
Benefits
Streamlined efficiency: automate the generation of comprehensive lists of prescriptions due for dispensing, minimising manual oversight.
Batch dispensing: push the entire batch to your dispense system queue, removing extensive paper filing.
Virtual pill inventory management: aligns with any established virtual pill inventory system by generating batches based on days on hand, with no further integrations required.
Bespoke workflow: batches are prepared based on user-defined groups and categories, letting you use this feature in the way that best suits your operations.
MedChart efficiency: the report automatically identifies and integrates MedCharts and their repeats, allowing seamless transfer to the dispensing system.
Generate a dispense run
Log in to ScryptHQ.
Go to More > Dispense Run at the top right of the screen.
Choose the Groups and Categories you want as filters. Tip: hold CTRL and click to highlight several groups and categories at once.
Choose whether to override your standard DOH Target or Dispense Interval set in your Drug Categories.
Click Generate Report. Depending on the volume of data, this can take one to two minutes.
Once displayed, review the results and tick the add checkbox next to the medications that need dispensing. Alternatively, scroll to the bottom of the page and choose Select all.
Click Dispense All Selected. For Z-Dispense users, this pushes all selected medications to the Dispense Queue in Z-Dispense. You can also press CTRL and comma to dispense the batch.
Dispense the prescriptions.
Usage tips
Conduct regular dispense runs for every essential group. This preemptive approach keeps up with packing demand and reduces the disruption of intermittent DAA dispensing.
In this example, a patient has medications set for dispensing in the report. On the left, prescriptions are identified as eRx, paper, and MedsChart, with S4D and S8 emphasised in red.
On the right, you can select individual prescriptions, so a single patient's medication can be dispatched on its own. Alternatively, use Select all at the bottom followed by Dispense All Selected.
