Top 10 tips for a successful Bulk SMS Campaign
1. Keep it clear, honest & concise
Craft a short and clear message that can be quickly understood by recipients. Be transparent and honest in your message and this will build trust in your customers and increase the likelihood of taking action.
2. Personalise when possible & Introduce yourself at the beginning
Use merge tags to include the customers's name (for Scrypt, use <<FirstName>> to create a personalised experience. Remember that this SMS will be received by your customer as a '+61' number, so if the customer has not previously saved this number in their phone before, they might not know who is sending the message. Let them know at the beginning so they trust you before disregarding your message.
Example:
"Hi <<FirstName>>, This is <<PharmacyName>>"...
4. Include a clear Call-To-Action (CTA)
Clearly specify what action you want the customer to take, such as "Reply to this text", "Call now" or "Visit our store." Also ensure your team knows what to do once the customer reponds to ensure a smooth experience.
β
5. Use Urgency and Scarcity
Create a sense of urgency or limited availability to encourage immediate action, such as using time-limited offers or limited stock notifications.
β
6. Avoid using capital letters
TYPING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS is considered shouting and can be off-putting to recipients. Using, or excessive use of Exclamation marks '!' is also generally not recommended.
7. Optimise timing
Send the SMS at the most appropriate time for your target audience will ensure they are available to respond swiftly. And ensure you have enough staffing resources to handle the responses promptly.
β
8. Proofreading is essential
Send the message to your own number first, check for spelling & grammatical errors. Ask a colleague to read the message, ask them if it's easy to read and understand.
9. Provie an opt-out option
Under the Spam Act, every commercial message must contain an 'unsubscribe' option that presents unsubscribe instructions clearly. Learn more here.
Scrypt provides an <<OptOutLink>> merge tag for you to use.
IMPORTANT:
Place the <<OptOutLink>> in the last sentence, followed by additional text (e.g., "<<OptOutLink>> - to opt out"). This prevents iOS devices from displaying the opt-out link as an expanded preview that could be mistaken for your main call-to-action.
10. Analyse & Refine
Track the successfulness of the campaign. Listen to all feedback. test different elements of your message, such as the working, CTA, timing, and optimise based on your results. That way for next time, you'll have a better understanding of what is needed to create and even more successful campaign.
By following these guidelines, you can improve the effectiveness of your Bulk SMS campaigns and increase the likelihood of recipients following through with the desired call-to-action. Good luck!
