The investment opportunities we offer on SeedInvest are extremely illiquid and risky. While the opportunity for outsized returns exists, the chances that users will lose the entirety of their investments are high (significantly higher than the chances of failure when investing in public stocks, for example) for any single investment. For this reason, it is recommended that no more than 10% of one's overall portfolio is held in alternative assets such as venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, etc. It is also recommended that users diversify their startup investment allocation across multiple investments (10+) to minimize the risk associated with any single investment. Should a user hold more than 10% of their portfolio in alternative assets, they may be required to provide additional information about their investment sophistication, strategy, and experience.
