For users funding via ACH, SeedInvest requires that the bank account is verified in order to protect against money laundering and fraud. In most instances, bank accounts are instantly authenticated through our integration with Plaid, which allows users to log in using their online banking credentials. If a bank account is not eligible to verify with Plaid, users can instead verify a bank account by completing a penny test. Using a penny test, the user will need to confirm the amounts of two micro-deposits that will be deposited into the linked bank account. The micro-deposit process typically takes 2-3 business days.
To verify the funding method using the penny test, users should follow these steps while logged in to SeedInvest:
1. Click the personal icon in the top right corner of the page (the circle containing the logged-in user's initials).
2. Click on the investor account associated with the current investment.
3. Click the "Funding" tab.
4. Click the bank account that needs to be verified.
5. Enter the deposit amounts as shown on the bank statement.
