Getting Sessions and Conversion Rate for Amazon products

Let me start by saying that retrieving Sessions and Conversion Rate data from Amazon is not so straightforward. The reason is that this data is not available via the Amazon API, forcing us to use an alternative solution - the Chrome Extension.

When activated, the Extension will work like a robot, going to your Seller Central account to fetch the data (note: the extension is not able to do anything else but fetch this very specific data set).

How to use the Extension to get Sessions and Conversion Rate

  1. Log in to your Seller Metrix account in the Chrome Extension

  2. Go to Seller Central and log in to the account you want to retrieve data for.

  3. Activate the Extension

This might seem simple enough. But what is happening behind the scenes might cause some confusion.

How things can go wrong

In the following example, we are looking at a seller with 2 separate SC accounts. One for Europe and one for North America. The seller has both SC accounts connected to Seller Metrix and the Europe account has Secondary User access to the North American SC account.

The seller logs in via the EU account and activates the Extension - this will initiate the retrieval of data.

Here comes the tricky part.

  1. The North American account (even though the seller has Secondary User access to it) might not be accessible. If the seller would switch over to the US account, there would be a prompt to log in. The Chrome Extension would have the same problem - the North American account is not accessible. To solve this, simply try to switch over to the US account, log in, and try running the Extension again.

  2. Note that the timeout (forcing the seller to log in again) happens faster for non-active marketplaces. In other words, if the seller tries to switch between all the marketplaces, logs in when prompted, then runs the Extension (let's say when the US account is selected) - the European marketplaces might time out without the seller noticing it. To resolve this, see (1) above.

  3. Note that the timeout can also happen within the same region. A seller with only 1 European SC account (let's say only selling in Germany and Italy) might be logged in to the German marketplace, but logged out of Italy. Also here the rules explained above in (2) apply.
