What is two-factor authentication?

2FA means you need two things to log in:

  1. Your password

  2. A one-time code from your phone, either sent via SMS or generated by an app

This keeps your account safer, especially if your password is ever compromised. 🔐

📱 How to activate 2FA in the mobile app

  1. From your Selma app, go to Profile

  2. Tap the ⚙️ icon

  3. Select Two-factor authentication, then Set up 2FA

  4. Follow the steps to first activate SMS verification, and then optionally switch to an authenticator app (strongly recommended)

💻 How to activate 2FA from your web browser

  1. Navigate to Menu > Settings

  2. Scroll down to Two-Factor Authentication and click on Set up

  3. Follow the steps to first activate SMS verification, and then optionally switch to an authenticator app (strongly recommended)

✅ Done! Your Selma account is now protected with two-factor authentication.

Authenticator app or SMS, which should I use?

We strongly recommend using an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Duo Mobile, or Microsoft Authenticator.

Here's why:

  • More secure than SMS

  • Works even without mobile reception

  • No issues if you change your phone number

SMS is a good first step that's quick and simple to set up. But it's less flexible and secure in the long run:

  • You need access to the same phone number

  • Changing numbers could lock you out of your account
