Which identification documents are valid to open a pillar 3a account?

To open your pillar 3a account at Selma, you'll need to verify your identity by uploading an accepted identification document.

✅ Accepted documents

  • Swiss passport – valid or expired within the last 12 months

  • Swiss identity card – valid or expired within the last 12 months

  • Swiss driver's licence – issued by a cantonal road traffic authority, the photo must clearly identify you

  • Swiss residence permit (categories B, C or L) – in credit card format, must be valid

  • Equivalent foreign identification documents (e.g. foreign passport) – must be valid

Please upload clear scans or photos in PNG, JPEG or PDF format.

For passports:

  • Cover page (front of the passport)

  • Photo and personal info page

For identification cards and driving licences:

  • Front side

  • Back side

💡Tips for a quick and smooth account opening

  • Print and sign the pension agreement by hand – digital signatures are not accepted. 🖋

  • Make sure to use the same signature that appears on the ID you provided.

  • Take photos or scans in bright, natural light.

  • Make sure all information is readable and not blurry.

  • Avoid glare or reflections on plastic ID cards.
