Who is this guide for?

In certain cantons, it's required to specify whether your account balance includes or excludes withholding tax. This means that simply entering a single amount for the account balance is not sufficient. You must also specify both types of interest—one with withholding tax and the other without. It's essential to declare whether the account balance itself includes or excludes withholding tax.

If your situation allows you to declare only one balance for your portfolio and you can report income both with and without withholding tax, then this guide may not be necessary for you.

How do I get the correct amount of assets for A and B?

All positions on the Selma tax report that are in A belong in assets A and the rest that has nothing entered (CHF 0.00) or are in B belong in assets B.

In this example the numbers look as follows:

Balance A: CHF 1'216.-

Dividends A: CHF 29.-

Balance B CHF 10'585.-

Dividends B: CHF 200.-

It's best to add up the balances of A and B at the end as they should match the total amount on your Selma tax report.
