One of the major pain points we see is the alt text action not completing off - even when you are certain that you added alt text to the image!
So, why might your alt text action not be completing off?
There are duplicate images.
For example, if you’ve added alt text to your company logo - there’s a chance you have this logo on every page, meaning you'll have multiple logo images to add alt-text to. Therefore, you could have picked the wrong image to add the alt-text.
Solution: Double-check that you have added alt text to the correct image.
2. You haven't added alt-text to all of the images in the action.
Alt-text actions often come in groups. If there's a 20-minute alt text action, this means there will be 4 images you need to add alt text to. If you haven’t added alt text to all of these images, the action won’t complete.
Solution: Make sure all images in the action have alt-text.
3. The changes haven’t pulled through on the front end yet.
As a general rule of thumb, it can take about 24-48 hours for alt text to pull through to the front end. This means that even if you have made all of the necessary changes in your CMS, you may find that it doesn’t instantly show up on the front end.
Solution: Wait a couple of days, then try to complete the action off again.
4. There is a caching issue.
You may need to clear the cache from your CMS.
Solution: If you’re unsure of how to do this, you should speak to your developer or your CMS support team.
