There are 2 parts to strategy creation within the platform:

  1. Keyword Research

  2. Keyword Sitemap

Making sure you get your strategy right is half the battle when it comes to SEO. Within the second phase, the Keyword Sitemap, it’s crucial you assign the right keywords to the right pages.

Listed below are some tips and tricks to help you get started:

If a Keyword is Already Ranking:

If a keyword is ranking in the top 10 positions, this means Google already recognises this keyword is very relevant to one of your pages. We’d therefore always advise that you keep this keyword on the page it's currently ranking for.

The Homepage:

The homepage has been known to cause some confusion when assigning keywords.

We recommend that you add ‘umbrella keywords’ to the homepage. These are keywords that are very broad and describe overall what it is that your company is or does.

For example; 'plumber in London' describes the occupation and location.

Blog posts and informational pages

For blogs or informational pages, you'll want to assign 'informational keywords'.

These are keywords used by searchers who want to learn more about a subject.

Within the platform, informational keywords have an 'i' icon next to them.

Service and product pages

For service and product pages, you'll want to assign 'transactional keywords'.

These are keywords used by searchers who want to make a purchase.

All transactional keywords have a shopping trolley icon next to them in the platform.
