There are a few different types of internal links. Each of them serves its own purpose and function.

Navigational Links:

Navigational links are generally found in the menu or top header of a website. Their purpose is to help users easily navigate through different sections or pages of the website.

Breadcrumb Links:

Breadcrumb links are used as a hierarchical navigation tool. They’re often located at the top of the webpage and are commonly used within e-commerce websites.

An example of breadcrumb links could be: Women > Accessories > Purses.

Footer Links:

Generally located at the bottom of the page, footer links allow users to easily find useful pages. Examples of the pages you may find here include contact details, privacy policies and terms of service.

Contextual Links:

These are hyperlinks that are embedded in the content of a page. They provide additional information, usually by directing users to different pages, articles or resources. These links typically hold the most value when it comes to passing authority.
