What they are and how to manage Areas Covered

Geographical Areas are set up against Customers, Sites and Engineers, these are a great way to help when scheduling work, they are also known as Sales Areas.

You can filter by Geographical Area when issuing a job. This function allows you to view the area about your Customers and Sites, comparing it with the areas assigned to Engineers thus displaying only those that match.

Creating a Geographical Area

You can create new Geographical Areas within the Customer or Site records. These can also be managed via Engineers.

Within the Customer record, set up a new Geographical Area.

  • Click on the ellipses (...)

  • Click on the +Add button to add a new Geographical area or select one that has previously been set up.

  • Complete the Area name and Description as required.

  • Click Save.

From the Site record, the process is the same as the Customer.

Engineer Areas Covered

You can set geographical areas by managing an engineer record.

  • Go to the Systems Setting cog and select Engineers.

  • Then, select the Engineer record and click the Edit icon via the Action Tray.

  • Scroll down to the Skills and Area Covered section and expand the section.

You will find Geographical Areas on the right-hand side. This area has a list of all the current locations saved.

To create a new one:

  • Click on the +Add button.

  • Add the new Geographical Area by giving it an area code and description.

  • When you are happy, click on the Action Tray and click the tick to Save.


Edit or remove a Geographical Area.

So, in the system, you can also remove any Geographical areas created.

To do this, you have to:

  • Navigate to any Customer, Site or Engineer record and click Edit.

  • Once you are in, scroll down to the Skills and Area Covered section.

  • Select the locations you want to remove.

  • Once you have made your selection, click the delete icon via the Action Tray.

Filter Engineer by Geographical Area

  • Use this checkbox to allow filtering.


Scheduling and Issuing Jobs based on Geographic Area/s

From the scheduler, you can also schedule and issue jobs according to an engineer's set location.

  • Across the top of the diary, click the My Engineers button.

  • You can change the Search Criteria and Enter a keyword based on the Geographic Areas you have set up in Service Geeni.

  • Select the Geographic Area.

  • Finally, Select Engineer/s from that area and click Select to confirm.

Congrats! You have allocated an engineer to a job based on their geographic area.
