Let's get uploading!
The Customer Upload Tool does exactly what it says in the tin, you can bulk upload and amend your data to Service Geeni.
It only covers NEW data and updates to existing data (excluding Service Contracts and Stock On Hand Values)
Getting Started
The first thing you need to do is to download the Upload tool.
To do this:
Click this download link: Customer Upload Tool.
This will down the latest version of the app to your downloads.
Once downloaded, find the file in your downloads folder (or whichever location you have specified) and open the application.
Double-click on the file and choose Run.
If a firewall pops up, click on Run Anyway.
Then, review the disclaimer.
Finally, click Agree.
When the app opens, you are shown the Login window where you can start to type in your details:
The URL is the URL you use to access your Service Geeni Platform.
The URL is case-sensitive and must be inputted as provided
EXAMPLE: ClientOnboarding.ServiceGeeni.com
Input the login email address that you use to access your Service Geeni account.
Finally, enter the API Key supplied by your onboarding team, CSM or our Service Geeni helpdesk.
Data Upload File Template
The data upload file template is provided by your Implementation Consultant or Project Manager.
The Upload file will look similar to the below:
Columns and Rows in the template
It's important NOT to edit the Column Names and the first two rows (in Purple), as these are required for a safe and satisfactory import.
Column A needs to remain as field notes.
Tabs in Template
The tabs within the spreadsheet represent a template & script where the data is imported into Service Geeni.
The tabs are important as they will match the tab name to the correct template on import.
There is an option for you to match to the correct template if your tab name/s are different but caution should be used.
Once you have uploaded a New File or selected an Uploaded File, click Next.
The app will load the selected templates for validation checks and also show the Actions to include related to that template.
Please make sure that only text characters are entered in cells.
Uploading a Data File
This is the main screen for the Customer Upload App. Now that you are here, let's start uploading some data.
To start uploading:
Choose to Upload a New File.
You can also select a previously uploaded file with Select an Uploaded File.
If any files have been uploaded previously they will be listed in the Uploaded files section.
Once the settings are selected as required the button will have white text if it's available for use.
On the left-hand side of the screen, select the template.
This auto-selects (matches) the tab name in the template.
If it recognises the tab name from the template, the Template Name box tells the import tool what type of data it's uploading.
On the right-hand side, you can tick the checkboxes as required.
Show unmatched sheet only: Checking this will display only sheets that haven't been matched to a Template (the area within Service Geeni where the data needs to be uploaded to).
Allow matching multiple sheets to same SG template: This will allow you to match more than one sheet to the same data template. This is useful if you have 2 lists of different data for the same area i.e. Customers.
Next, look to the right-hand side, and click on the Parameters tab.
Input into the Value field the SupplierAccountNo.
Then, click Next.
Select Validate Data.
If all Validation checks are successful and there are no errors/issues, then you will see a Validation Check Successful box appear.
Understanding the Validation Process Messages
Warning - are potentially of concern and need considering before you import.
Critical - are hard stops that you must fix to continue.
Info - This isn't of any concern, but shows you what it's uploading.

Once you have reviewed the Selected Actions.

The data will be uploaded to your Service Geeni account as shown at the top of the screen.
Once completed, you will see a message saying Process Complete.
Click Exit.
Upload History
If selecting a previously uploaded file, to find it, you can view the Upload History.
To do this:
Click on the file and click Upload History.
Here you can review the tabs:
Templates & Actions
Steps & Status
Event Log
Results
Click Close once you have reviewed it.
Click No for Notes.
Understanding Errors and how to resolve them
If you see this error box it could mean that this type of data template is not set up to import. In this case, speak with your Implementation Consultant or Project Manager to get the Service Geeni Development team to investigate.
"A sheet/template must have at least one Action included to be selected for the Validation & Upload Data Process. Please select an action from the action list on the right for this template."
"This Sheet does not have a matching template so cannot be selected from the Validation & Upload Data Process. Selected the relevant template for the list in the Template Name column in the grid."
Validation Checks - Returned Errors
If you see this error when attempting to validate the data, it means that the required data is missing from the Parameters field.
Data is validated in Step 2, before the file upload in Step 1.
Failed to Read the uploaded files list
You will get this error when the login screen details are incorrect.
An incorrectly typed URL is the usual culprit, it's a case sensitive field.
FAQ’s
How do I check which user is logged in?
How do I check which platform I am currently logged into?
At the top of the screen, it will display which user you are logged in as Uploaded By, and which Service Geeni platform you are currently logged into Tenant.
How do I move between the different steps within the data upload app?
If you need to make changes, you can click on the relevant step at the top of the screen.
What happens if I am not able to move to the Next screen?
The "Next" box doesn’t become enabled for me to click?
The issue here is that none of the sheets have been selected for validation. The app won't let you move onto the validation stage unless at least one sheet has been selected.
The button text will change to white when you can use it.
