Find out what a Preferred Engineer is.
A preferred engineer is exactly what it says: you are selecting an engineer who meets all the skills and criteria, or may have a lot of experience for a particular Site or Equipment item.
When a job is raised, the system follows a hierarchy to determine which Preferred Engineer should be assigned.
Repair Jobs: For Repair Jobs, the system first checks for a preferred engineer set against the Equipment.
If no preferred engineer is found there, it then checks the Site record.
Service Jobs: For Service Jobs, the system follows a more detailed hierarchy.
It checks for a preferred engineer in the following order:Equipment Service Sequence
Service Contract
Equipment
Site
The more specific setting always takes priority. So, a preferred engineer set at the service level will override one set at the equipment or site level.
The Preferred Engineer hierarchy is utilised by the system when you raise a job through the Equipment Service Schedule module.
