A REAL ID driver’s license or identification card is optional, however it is recommended.
Starting May 7, 2025, a REAL ID will be required to:
Board domestic flights on and after May 7, 2025

If you want to continue to use a U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, military ID, enhanced driver’s license, or other federally accepted identification for the above purposes, you do not need to get a REAL ID.
Note: You will need to complete another application process if you wish to receive a REAL ID after getting a standard Driver's License.
