A REAL ID is a federally accepted form of driver’s license or identification.

REAL ID can be used to:

  • Board a domestic U.S. flight within the U.S. after the new May 7th, 2025, deadline

  • Enter secure federal facilities, such as military bases, federal courthouses, and other secure federal locations.

Starting May 7, 2025, every state and territory resident will need to present a REAL ID compliant license/ID, or another acceptable form of identification, for accessing federal facilities, entering nuclear power plants, and boarding commercial aircraft.
