Lived experience means you personally live with the topic of the group.

Example

In a support group for people with autism:

  • Lived experience means you have been diagnosed with autism or strongly identify as autistic.

  • It does not mean a friend, partner, or family member has autism and you want to learn more.

Why this matters

ShareWell groups are designed for peer support, not education or observation. Shared firsthand experience creates safety and mutual understanding.
