Is peer support the same as therapy?

Written by ShareWell Support

Peer support is not therapy. It’s a powerful way to connect with people who really understand what you’re going through—because they’ve been there too.

  • Therapy: Led by licensed professionals, focused on diagnosis and treatment

  • Peer support: Based on shared experiences and mutual understanding

ShareWell hosts are not therapists, clinicians, or social workers. They are trained peers who guide conversations.

Many members use ShareWell alongside therapy for additional support!
