A peer support session on ShareWell consists of 3 or more peers who come together to seek support in a group setting. Peers are defined as people who share the same lived experience or face similar personal challenges. These peer support groups are conducted via ShareWell's video platform, allowing for virtual meetings with participants from diverse locations worldwide.

During the session, members have the opportunity to talk about their personal challenges, triumphs, and coping strategies related to a specific mental health or wellness topic. Whether it's anxiety, depression, trauma, self-care, or any other area, participants can relate to one another's experiences, fostering a sense of understanding and connection. Active listening, empathy, and validation are key elements of a peer support session on ShareWell. Participants offer support to one another through compassionate responses, reflections, and encouragement. It's a space where individuals can feel heard, seen, and supported by others who have faced similar challenges.

Sessions are facilitated by hosts who ensure a safe and respectful environment, allowing all participants to feel comfortable sharing their experiences. All participants including the facilitator have shared lived experience of the session topic. Learn more about ShareWell sessions and hosts here.
