Why are sessions recorded?

All sessions that take place in the Sherpa classroom are recorded. These recordings cover the video and audio of all users within the classroom (unless a camera or microphone is muted) as well as any activity on the whiteboard or document tabs.

There are two reasons why lessons are recorded:

  1. As a revision and learning tool

  2. For safeguarding purposes

These recordings are extremely useful as a revision tool as you can watch back any explanations or exercises covered during a session. From your account, you can go to your Completed Bookings to view recordings of any Introductions, Bookings or Group Classes that you've completed. In these recordings, you can also scroll around the whiteboard tabs or document tabs to find the piece of work you're looking for.

Recording sessions also helps Sherpa to safeguard students, which is of the highest importance.

πŸ”” How are these recordings protected?

We take the privacy of our students extremely seriously.

  • Recordings are only accessible by students (this means only you for 1-1, private sessions, and you as well as other students in your group classes) and background-checked members of Sherpa.

  • Recordings are only ever viewed by a member of the Sherpa team for quality assurance or safeguarding purposes.

  • Recordings cannot be downloaded. They can only be viewed on Sherpa when logged in.

How long are recordings kept for?

Recordings are kept for up to a year, before they are automatically deleted from the server.

If you would like, you can get in touch with Sherpa to request that recordings be deleted before that time for private, 1-1 sessions.

Can I opt-out of being recorded?

Unfortunately, due to our safeguarding requirements, you cannot opt out of sessions being recorded on Sherpa.

If you would not like to be recorded, you are able to turn off your camera during your sessions.

You can also get in touch with support to request recordings to be deleted for private, 1-1 sessions.
