The purpose of this article is to help you to configure your notifications in different languages ​​if you ship packages in several countries.

Here are the steps to follow:

1) Technical specifications

Make sure your data flow gives the required information: language code or country of destination

  • API or FTP integrations
  1. First, we check if we have the language indicated in the order information. The filed "order.language_code" indicates the language to display (languages available THERE).
  2. If 1. is not possible, we recognize the language of the destination country (field "shipping_address.country_code")
  3. If it is not possible to obtain the language or if we do not yet manage it at Shipup, we send the notification in the language indicated by default in your general settings ("company.default_language")

  • Apps integrations (Magento, Prestashop, Shopify...)

We determine a default language based on the destination country of the order.

2) Activate new languages

Activate the different languages on the general settings HERE

Select all languages ​​on which you want to send notifications

3) Create and edit your email templates for new languages

In your email templates, some content is specific to each language and has to be set up manually in every language you might be using.

To change the language of the template you edit in:

  • Go to 'Email templates'
  • Click on the flag at the top right
  • Choose the flag of the language you want to edit in

The two main things that need to be manually added in each template are:

  • Your promo and incident banners
  • Your footer

4) Notifications wording

By default, specific wording is set up on Shipup but it's possible to change it.

In your Notification settings, the content is specific to each language and has to be set-up manually in every language you might be using.

To change the language you edit in:

The things that need to be manually added or changed in each language and notification are:

  • Medium communications for your notification (Email / SMS / Zendesk ticket ...)
  • Creation of your Zendesk tickets (if you have Zendesk)
  • Activation/deactivation of a notification
  • Notification content (subject, title, and body)

CAUTION ⚠️ ⚠️: if you change the writing content of a notification in one language, it will not automatically be translated in other languages, you have to do it manually by yourself. For example, modifying the text of a notification in French does not automatically modify the same notification in English

5) Tracking page:

If you want to add a promotional banner, it is possible to edit the content by language in order to communicate a different message.

In cases where you embed the tracking page on your website, it is possible that this page is declined in different url, as for example to manage different languages.
