Enhancement to Swifty Legacy’s Email Document Upload Classifier
Summary
This release significantly improves how accurately Swifty Legacy classifies inbound documents emailed when uploading to shipments, and adds the ability to handle combined document packets automatically. Until now, a single emailed file was treated as a single document, so a packet containing an invoice, a bill of lading, and a delivery receipt landed on the shipment as one undifferentiated attachment — often labeled with a generic "Other" type when the model couldn't confidently identify it.
Now, Swifty reads the emailed file, splits it into document page groups, classifies each group independently, and uploads each one to the shipment as its own correctly typed document.
Key Capabilities:
Substantially more accurate document recognition, documents are correctly identified across the full set of supported types, so invoices, bills of lading, delivery receipts, and rate confirmations arrive on the shipment already labeled correctly instead of as "Other."
Automatic document packet splitting, a multi-document packet is detected and divided into page groups at the correct boundaries, so each document within the packet is recognized on its own rather than being classified as a whole.
Per-document upload to the shipment, every page group is uploaded to the shipment as a separate document with its own type, thumbnail, and preview, so users can open exactly the document they need instead of scrolling a combined file.
How It Works:
A carrier or customer emails documents to their Swifty Legacy inbox exactly as they do today, with no change to how attachments are sent. Swifty Legacy matches the email to the correct shipment, then passes the attachment through the new classification pipeline. The classifier examines the file page by page, determines where one document ends and the next begins, groups the pages accordingly, and assigns a document type to each group. Each group is then uploaded to the shipment as its own document. Because documents now arrive with accurate types, downstream automation that depends on document type, such as invoice processing and settlement workflows, is triggered correctly without manual relabeling.
Note: No change is required from carriers or customers, and documents already attached to existing shipments are unaffected. The new classifier applies to newly received email uploads.
Benefits:
Improved accuracy, documents are identified correctly far more often, so fewer arrive as "Other" and need to be relabeled by hand.
No manual splitting, combined document packets no longer have to be pulled apart and re-uploaded one document at a time.
More reliable automation, correctly typed invoices and supporting documents trigger the right downstream settlement workflows instead of stalling as unclassified attachments.
Faster document retrieval, users open the specific document they need directly from the shipment rather than searching through a merged file.
