Shipment Dashboard Updates

We have upgraded the Shipments Dashboard to a single, high-performance experience. This update brings together the best features of our previous dashboards into one modernized view, ensuring you have all the tools you need—filters, exports, and custom columns—in one consistent place.

What’s New & Improved

  • Streamlined Pickup & Delivery Info: To give you more screen space, the Pickup and Delivery columns now use a cleaner format (City, State, Postal Code, Country). This ensures international shipments are clearly identified while keeping your grid easy to read.

    image-20260916-162809.png
  • Expanded Column Options: You can now add more data points to your main view, including Workflows (to see automation states), Notes (with hover previews of recent updates), and your company’s Custom Reference Fields.

  • Enhanced Sorting: We’ve added sorting capabilities to key columns—including Equipment, Distance, and Next Stop Appointment Status—allowing you to organize your shipments more effectively.

  • Improved Filtering: The filter panel now includes Shipment Groups and Appointment Status, making it easier to drill down into specific segments of your freight.

  • Real-Time Auction Visibility: View winning bid amounts and carrier auction links directly within the dashboard table for faster decision-making.

  • Clearer Search Results: When a search or filter returns no results, the dashboard now provides a clearer "No results found" state with a quick option to clear your filters and start over.

  • Inline Editing for Custom Fields: Your company-specific reference fields can now be added as columns and edited directly from the dashboard row, significantly reducing the time spent clicking in and out of shipment details. If you would like additional, editable fields added, please let your CSM know.

Key Fixes & Performance Updates

  • Faster Page Loads: We have optimized how the dashboard retrieves data, resulting in significantly faster loading times, especially for shipments with many line items.

  • Reliable Financial Visibility: We resolved an issue where financial columns were occasionally hidden from users who had the correct permissions. Your data will now appear consistently.

  • Clearer Search Results: The dashboard now provides a "Clear Filters" button to help you quickly reset your view and start over.

    image-20260916-163852.png
  • Updated Itinerary Mouse Over:

    • The New itinerary mouse over was improved to show, orders, appointments, planned, and completed times as well as statuses, ETAs, full addresses, total stops, and distances.

Self Scheduling (Non-Managed Scheduling)

Carriers, Suppliers, and third parties can now book appointments at your facilities for non-managed freight.. You share one scheduling link. They sign in (or create a free account), and book, reschedule, or cancel their own appointments based on your facility and dock availability. Your team keeps full control: everything lands on your facility calendar, and anything outside your posted hours comes to you for approval.

How It Works

More detailed documentation is available, so please ask if needed.

  1. Share your scheduling link from the Appointments page.

image-20260917-001941.png
image-20260917-002000.png

  1. The recipient opens the link, signs in or creates a free account, picks your facility, and books from your real availability.

image-20260917-001906.png
image-20260917-002026.png

  1. If the time they need is not offered, they can use Request Time to propose a day and time. The request arrives in your approval queue with their message, and they are notified when you approve or decline.

image-20260917-004931.png

  1. Bookers manage their own appointments (view, reschedule, cancel), and every booking carries a confirmation number that appears in notifications and is searchable on the appointment dashboard.

image-20260917-004552.png

image-20260917-004411.png

  1. Your schedulers can also reschedule externally booked appointments directly on the facility calendar.

image-20260917-005258.png
image-20260917-005527.png

Benefits

Every appointment that used to require a phone call or email becomes self-serve against your real availability: fewer scheduling calls, no double entry, and your dock rules decide which shipment lands where. External requests outside your hours become an approval decision instead of a negotiation.

Editable Appointment Details

The appointment panel on the Dock Scheduling calendar has an expansion option with a full workspace instead of a read-only summary. Click any appointment and the side panel opens with its key details. Expand it and you get the new expanded view: a larger layout showing everything about the appointment in one place, including facility and dock information, references, contacts, items, and timing, without leaving the calendar.

image-20260916-235426.png

From the panel you can now edit the appointment directly:

  • Edit appointment fields inline. Update the details that used to require opening the shipment, and save everything with one Save action.

image-20260916-235619.png

  • Edit shipment-owned fields and items. For appointments tied to a shipment, shipment fields and line items are editable right from the appointment panel.

image-20260916-235554.png

  • Capture actual times as they happen. Record Dock In, Dock Out, and actual start and stop times on the appointment with a 1-click button. Time capture saves automatically as you enter it, so gate and dock teams can log events in real time without a separate save step.

image-20260916-235518.png

Benefits

Schedulers and dock teams work where they already spend the majority of their time. The expanded view answers "what is this appointment" in one screen, edits happen inline instead of through the shipment page, and actual dock times get captured at the moment they happen.

Saved Calendar Filters

The Dock Scheduling calendar now filters like your Shipments and Orders dashboard and remembers your preferred filters. Some key enhancements include:

  • EIGHT New filters in the calendar panel (before vs after)

image-20260917-000353.png

  • Applied filters shown above the calendar

image-20260916-235700.png

  • Saved tab where each scheduler keeps named calendar views (filters, card fields, and sort all live in the view, with one Save point).

image-20260917-000518.png

Benefits

  • Set up multiple views of your docks calendar once and return to them as you please.

  • Easily remove filters with one-click filter removal.

Added Document Types

Shipment Documents: Safety Data Sheet & Certificate of Analysis

Two document types have been added to the shipment document taxonomy:

Type

Display Name

Short Name

SAFETY_DATA_SHEET

Safety Data Sheet

SDS

CERTIFICATE_OF_ANALYSIS

Certificate of Analysis

COA

Shippers moving chemicals, food-grade product, and other regulated freight can now classify these documents explicitly instead of filing them under "Other," which makes them findable and filterable on the shipment record.

Both types are available anywhere a shipment document type is selected - the shipment Documents tab, the Android/iOS driver app, and email document intake. The web and mobile clients read the list from the API at runtime, so both picked the new types up on deploy with no client release required.

Document type is now an extensible field for API partners. It is now published as an open string with documented values.

Action for API integrators: document_type may now return values your integration has not seen before. Treat unrecognized values as pass-through rather than as an error. Future document types will be added additively, without a contract break.

Upgrade notes

  • No database migration downtime.

  • No action required for web or mobile users - the new types appear

These changes can affect a working integration. Each one is additive or a widening of what the API accepts - none remove a working endpoint - but clients that validate responses strictly against a fixed list of values may reject data that is now valid.

1. Document types are no longer a fixed list

What changed: document_type (and type on quote documents) was previously constrained to a fixed list of 50 values. It is now an open text value. The 52 recognized values are still published in the API reference as documented values, including two new ones: CERTIFICATE_OF_ANALYSIS and SAFETY_DATA_SHEET.

Why: Customers need to classify documents that do not fit Shipwell's standard taxonomy — industry-specific certificates, customer-specific paperwork, and regional compliance documents. Locking the field to a fixed list meant every new document type required a Shipwell release.

What to check: If your client generates types from the API schema and rejects unrecognized values, it will now reject documents that Shipwell accepts. Treat document_type as a string, and handle values outside the documented list gracefully.

Affected endpoints (16):

  • GET|POST /shipments/{shipmentId}/documents/

  • GET|PUT /shipments/{shipmentId}/documents/{documentId}/

  • GET /shipments/{shipmentId}/documents/generate_bol/

  • GET /shipments/{shipmentId}/documents/generate_rate_confirmation/

  • GET /shipments/{shipmentId}/documents/generate_shipping_label/

  • POST /documents/generate-labels/

  • POST /invoicing/shipments/{shipmentId}/freight-invoices/

  • GET|POST /quoting/spotnegotiations/spot-negotiations/{spotNegotiationId}/quotes/{spotNegotiationQuoteId}/documents/

  • GET|PUT /quoting/spotnegotiations/.../documents/{spotNegotiationQuoteDocumentId}

  • PUT /carrier-relationships/{carrierRelationshipId}/documents/{documentId}/

  • PUT /brokerages/{brokerageId}/shipper-relationships/{shipperRelationshipId}/documents/{documentId}/

  • GET /shipwell-ui/shipments/{shipmentId}/generate-drayage-house-bol/

2. New shipment alert: CARRIER_CANCEL_UNCONFIRMED

What changed: Shipment responses can now return CARRIER_CANCEL_UNCONFIRMED in metadata.alerts[].type. It flags a shipment where the carrier has signaled a cancellation that has not yet been confirmed on the Shipwell side, so it can be surfaced and worked before it becomes a service failure.

What to check: If your client maps alert types to a fixed set, add this value or fall back to a default for unknown alert types.

Affected endpoints: GET|POST /shipments/, GET /shipments/external/, GET /carriers/{carrierId}/power-units/{powerUnitId}/shipments/, POST /purchase-orders/build-shipment/, PUT /purchase-orders/update-built-shipment/, and the spot negotiation read and update endpoints.

3. Routing guide policy search: multi-status filtering

What changed on GET /routing-guide/policies/:

  • status now accepts multiple values in one request, so you can retrieve active and inactive policies together. It previously accepted one value from a fixed list.

  • Two new optional filters: updated_at__gte and updated_at__lte, for retrieving only policies changed since your last sync.

What to check: Existing single-value status=ACTIVE requests continue to work. If your client validates the parameter against the published schema, note that the parameter type has widened to accept an array.

What's New

Document Folders API

Documents can now be organized into folders, with per-folder access control.

Endpoint

Purpose

Endpoint

Purpose

GET /document-store/folders

List folders you are authorized to see

POST /document-store/folders

Create a folder

PATCH /document-store/folders/{id}

Rename or update a folder

POST /document-store/folders/{id}/grants

Grant access

POST /document-store/documents/{id}:move

Move a document into another folder

Update appointments over the API

PATCH /facilities/appointments/{appointment_id} is new. You can now change an existing dock appointment through the API instead of cancelling and rebooking, including rescheduling, updating shipment line items, and renaming the appointment's stop company

Known Limitations

  • Folder deletion requires the folder to be empty.

Other Minor Enhancements and Bug Fixes

Description

Resolved: "Mark Stop as Complete" Validation Block

We have resolved an issue where users were unable to use the "Mark Stop as Complete" button on multi-stop shipments. Previously, the system would block this action if a manual arrival timestamp had not been recorded first. You can now once again complete stops in a single click, and the system will automatically handle the necessary status transitions.

Shipments Dashboard Replacement

Improved Carrier Permission Enforcement

We have corrected a permission issue where certain carrier contacts could view the Load Board even when their access was explicitly disabled. Load Board visibility is now strictly controlled by the "Load Board Access" setting in the carrier contact profile.

Improved Carrier Permission Enforcement

We have corrected a permission issue where certain carrier contacts could view the Load Board even when their access was explicitly disabled. Load Board visibility is now strictly controlled by the "Load Board Access" setting in the carrier contact profile.

Improved Carrier Permission Enforcement

We have corrected a permission issue where certain carrier contacts could view the Load Board even when their access was explicitly disabled. Load Board visibility is now strictly controlled by the "Load Board Access" setting in the carrier contact profile.

Improved: Cancelled Shipment Security Carriers are now prevented from updating the status or editing details of a shipment once it has been moved to "Cancelled." This ensures data integrity and prevents accidental status changes on voided loads.

Improved: RFP & Routing Guide Management Fixed a regression where only the primary carrier contact received tender notifications. Routing guide workflows now correctly notify all assigned carrier contacts.

Improved: Automated Tender Revocation When a routing guide workflow is cancelled, the system now automatically revokes any open tenders associated with that workflow, preventing carriers from accepting loads that are no longer active.

Improved: PRO Number Management Users can now clear or edit a PRO number after a carrier has been removed from a shipment. This allows for clean re-tendering to a new carrier without stale tracking data causing conflicts.

Resolved: FedEx Third-Party Cost Visibility Fixed an issue where the shipment cost was hidden for FedEx parcel labels using "Third Party" billing. Payers using their own account numbers can now see their freight costs directly in the platform.

Resolved: Financial Data Protection Fixed a bug where customer-specific financial data was being overwritten when using direct carrier rates, ensuring your custom pricing and line items remain intact.

Resolved: CloudTrucks BOL Accuracy Fixed a mismatch between the quote number shown on the Bill of Lading (BOL) and the Dispatch Log for CloudTrucks, ensuring consistent documentation across the platform.

Resolved: SAIA Canadian Dispatch Fixed a country code validation error that prevented shipments to or from Canada from being dispatched via SAIA Direct.

Improved: XPO Quote Matching Enhanced the reconciliation logic for XPO Logistics to reduce the number of unmatched carrier invoices in the Settlements module, streamlining your freight audit process.

Resolved: Dayton Freight PRO Number Integrity Implemented a fix to prevent duplicate PRO numbers from being assigned to different Dayton Freight shipments, ensuring accurate tracking and preventing double payments.

Resolved: ABF Rating Accuracy (Cubic Footprint) Fixed a discrepancy where ABF quotes were lower than final invoices due to handling unit consolidation. Quotes now accurately reflect per-pallet dimensions and cubic calculations.

Improved: ABF Rating Performance Optimized the rating process for ABF Freight by bypassing unnecessary aggregation steps, resulting in faster and more direct rate retrieval.

Improved: Billing Contact Defaults Carrier invoices now correctly default to the designated billing email address rather than the primary account admin, ensuring financial documents reach the right personnel.

Resolved: Volume LTL (VLTL) Rating Availability Fixed a configuration issue that prevented several carriers from returning Volume LTL quotes. You will now see a full range of rates for your VLTL shipments.

Resolved: FedEx Freight Service Level Accuracy Fixed an issue where FedEx Economy shipments were incorrectly transmitted as "Priority" on the electronic BOL, preventing unexpected upcharges from the carrier.

Resolved: RLC Dispatch Reliability Fixed a "Bad Request" error that caused R+L Carriers (RLC) dispatches to fail sporadically during the booking process.

Resolved: Ward eBOL Transmission Identified and resolved a transmission error that caused electronic Bill of Lading (eBOL) failures for Ward shipments.

Improved: Same-Day Dispatch for Ward LTL Adjusted the dispatch logic for Ward LTL to accommodate same-day pickups even when the remaining window is under two hours, reducing the need for manual carrier calls.

Improved: Numark Rating for Long Addresses Enhanced address handling for Numark rating requests. Long street addresses are now intelligently split across lines to prevent carrier system errors and ensure quotes are returned.

Resolved: Ward Tracking Reliability Fixed a technical error that caused Ward LTL tracking updates to get stuck. Delivery milestones and timeline events now flow into the platform without delay.

Resolved: Shipment Cloning Data Integrity Fixed a bug where cloning a shipment would retain the original dispatch ID, which could cause conflicts during new carrier assignments.

Resolved: XPO Tracking Status Accuracy Fixed an issue where XPO shipments were incorrectly showing "At Delivery" status while still "In Transit," providing more reliable visibility into your active loads.

Improved: RLC Rating Precision Corrected a weight rounding issue for RLC (R+L Carriers) that caused incorrect rate comparisons. Weights are now transmitted with full precision to ensure you receive the most accurate direct rates.

Resolved: Ward eBOL Zip Code Validation Fixed a failure in the Ward electronic Bill of Lading (eBOL) process when using 9-digit zip codes. The system now automatically formats zip codes to ensure carrier acceptance.

Improved: Ward Dispatch Address Handling Refined address processing for Ward LTL dispatches to ensure shipments to "Bensalem Township" and similar locations are accepted without manual address corrections.

Resolved: Automated BOL Generation Fixed an issue where Bill of Lading (BOL) documents were not being generated for shipments dispatched via the Autobooking service.

Resolved: Estes Financial Line Item Accuracy Fixed an issue where the "Minimum Charge" from Estes Express was missing from the Financials tab, ensuring the total shipment cost matches the accepted quote.

Resolved: Averitt Express Automated Tracking Fixed an issue where Averitt Express shipments were not receiving automated PRO numbers, which previously prevented shipments from updating to "In Transit" status.

Resolved: FedEx Service Level Display Fixed a carrier profile collision that caused FedEx Economy shipments booked via Priority1 to be incorrectly labeled as "Priority" in the UI.

Resolved: SEFL Financial Accuracy Corrected a discrepancy where Southeastern Freight Lines (SEFL) direct rates were not matching the final shipment financials, ensuring accurate freight auditing and settlement.

Improved: Automated Tracking for ABF Freight Shipments handled by ABF Freight now automatically transition to "In Transit" status upon pickup, eliminating the need for manual status updates.

Resolved: Tracking for Creative Materials Fixed an issue where shipments for Creative Materials remained in "Carrier Confirmed" status after pickup. Tracking now updates correctly to reflect real-time progress.

Improved: Order Creation Logic Refined the order creation process when using a Quote ID to prevent redundant date/time mapping, ensuring that the original quoted schedule is preserved without conflict.

Resolved: Echo Guaranteed Quoting Fixed an error that prevented guaranteed service quotes from being retrieved for Echo Global Logistics, ensuring you have access to all available service levels.

Resolved: Roadrunner (RRTS) PRO Number Assignment Fixed a consistent issue where Roadrunner shipments failed to generate or display a PRO number after successful dispatch.

Resolved: Old Dominion (ODFL) Pickup Instructions Fixed an issue where special pickup instructions (such as internal reference numbers) were not being transmitted to Old Dominion Freight Line.

Resolved an issue where certain email attachments for rendition invoice packet flow were incorrectly labeled as "Other" instead of their actual document type.

Carrier documents uploaded to the document store can be visible to Shippers without requiring manual permission overrides.

Added folder-level permissions to the Document Store, allowing for safer handling and segmentation of documents within your organization.

Previously, documents sent from certain systems were occasionally ignored by our document classifier because of how they were formatted by the sender's email server. We have updated our ingestion logic to ensure these files are always recognized and processed, ensuring your shipment timeline and financial records stay up to date without manual intervention.

Load Optimization: LTL contract rate-table post-processing step

Resolved an issue related to FedEx/FedEx Freight where the carrier on shipments was showing as one when it should be the other.

Added a new field in Analytics that combines "Carrier Cost" and "Consolidation Cost" into a single "Total Shipment Cost" metric for more accurate spend reporting.

Ocean/Rail Live Appointment Report for Cost Reduction Initiative

Reviewed the solution previously implemented: a static annual conversion rate to report on all shipments in one unified currency, even if shipment costs are logged in various international currencies.

Order line item amounts and piece counts update correctly across multiple orders.

Facility load types fixed to now show all load types.

Custom data values from the address book now flow onto orders and shipment stops.

Pickup and Delivery columns on the Orders and Shipments dashboards now show City, State, ZIP, and Country, and sort by those fields.

Splitting an order no longer fails or duplicates order names when order numbers use dash suffixes (for example SO123-1).
