Updated over 2 years ago

Specifications play a vital role in providing detailed information about products in your e-commerce store. They offer specific details and technical attributes that help customers make informed purchasing decisions.

Dashboard

In this section, you can conveniently view all the attributes and specifications that have been created in your store. These attributes and specifications are essential for organizing and categorizing your products effectively. They are displayed in a table format, allowing you to sort them based on various parameters.

Name

Sort the attributes and specifications by name in ascending or descending order. This helps you quickly locate specific attributes or specifications.

ID

Arrange the table based on the ID assigned to each attribute or specification. Sorting by ID can be useful when you need to identify items based on their unique identifier.

Type

Sort the attributes and specifications based on their type, such as text, dropdown, checkbox, or date. This allows you to group similar types of attributes or specifications together.

Description

Arrange the table based on the description provided for each attribute or specification. Sorting by description can be helpful when you need to find specific details or context about an attribute or specification.

User Code

Sort the attributes and specifications based on the user code associated with each item. This can be useful for identifying attributes or specifications based on specific codes or references used internally.

Unit

Arrange the table based on the unit of measurement assigned to each attribute or specification. Sorting by unit can be beneficial when dealing with products that require specific measurement units.

Hidden

Sort the attributes and specifications based on whether they are hidden or not. This allows you to easily identify attributes or specifications that are not currently visible in your store's front end.

Adding Specifications

To add a new specification, simply click on the "+Add Spec" button, which will open a convenient popup window. This window provides a user-friendly interface where you can enter all the necessary details for the specification.

Name

Specification name is the label or title that is given to a specific attribute or detail about a product. It is used to describe a specific aspect or feature of the product that can help customers understand it better. For example, a specification name for a smartphone could be "Battery life" or "Screen size". When creating a new specification, it's important to choose a name that accurately describes the aspect of the product that is being specified. This can help customers make informed decisions about whether the product meets their needs.

Description

When adding a new specification to a product, you will also have the option to add a Description for your reference. The Description is not visible to customers and is intended to help you describe the specification in more detail. The Description field is shown in the list of specifications for the product, so it can help you easily identify and manage your specifications.

When creating the Description, you may want to include additional details about the specification, such as how it was measured or any special features that are important to note. By including a clear and informative Description, you can ensure that you and your team have a better understanding of the product's specifications, which can help with product management and customer support.

User Code

The User Code is a custom code that can be used when making API calls to the product from other applications. This can be useful if you need to integrate the product with other systems or applications.

By setting a User Code, you can ensure that the product is easily identifiable and can be accessed using a standardized code. This can help streamline your integration process and make it easier to manage your product data across multiple platforms.

It's important to note that the User Code is optional and not required for all products. However, if you plan on integrating your product with other applications or systems, setting a User Code can be a helpful way to ensure that your product is easily identifiable and accessible.

Hide specification in store

To hide a specification from your store, you can edit the specification in the product editor and select the option to "Hide from store". This will keep the specification visible in the editor and API calls, but it will not be visible to customers on the product page or in the checkout process.

Even if you hide a specification in the store, you can still use the hidden specification to filter your products in the store's backend and storefront. This can be useful if you want to organize your products by certain specifications but don't want those specifications to clutter the product page for customers. So, hiding a specification does not limit its functionality in any way and allows you to manage your products more effectively.

Specification type

Specification Type refers to the format or structure of a specification. When creating a new specification in your product editor, you can choose from a variety of types, such as Text, Number, Select, or Date.

The type you choose for a specification will determine the format in which the specification is displayed and the options available for that specification. For example, if you choose the Select type, you will be able to define a set of predefined options for that specification, which the customer can choose from when purchasing the product.

By selecting the appropriate type for each specification, you can ensure that your customers can easily understand the information provided and make informed purchasing decisions. It can also help you manage your product catalog more efficiently by providing a consistent and organized structure for your specifications.

Yes/No

Yes/No is a common type of specification used for products that have a simple binary option, such as whether or not the product includes a certain feature or comes with a particular accessory. This specification type allows the customer to quickly and easily see whether or not the product meets their needs.

When creating a Yes/No specification, you can set the specification name to reflect the option being presented (e.g. "Includes accessory", "Has feature X", etc.) and set the specification value to either "Yes" or "No". This will then be displayed on the product page and can help customers quickly determine if the product is right for them.

Number

The "Number" specification type allows you to enter numerical values for the specification. This can be useful for specifications such as weight, length, or capacity, where precise numerical values are important. The "Number" type can also include decimal values.

Discrete Number

The "Discrete Number" specification type is similar to "Number," but it only allows whole number values. This can be useful for specifications such as quantity or size, where whole numbers are more appropriate. By using the "Discrete Number" type, you can ensure that customers only select whole number values for the specification.

Text

A Text specification type allows you to add a specification that consists of a text description. This can be useful for providing additional information about a product, such as care instructions or usage tips.

When creating a Text specification, you can enter the name of the specification (e.g. "Care Instructions", "Usage Tips", etc.) in the field label. Then, you can enter the description of the specification in the field itself. You can add as many Text specifications as you need for a particular product.

Text specifications are not quantifiable like Number or Discrete Number specifications, but they can still provide valuable information to customers that can help them make an informed purchasing decision.

Set of Options

A Set of Options is a specification type that allows you to create a list of selectable options for a product. For example, if you are selling a t-shirt, you may want to include a Set of Options for size and color. This would allow customers to select their preferred size and color from a dropdown menu on the product page.

Using a Set of Options can make it easier for customers to find the product that meets their specific needs, and it can also help you manage your inventory more efficiently by tracking which options are most popular. Additionally, you can use a Set of Options to offer product customization, such as allowing customers to add a custom message or engraving to their purchase.

Adding a choice

In the editor, you can click on the specification you want to add a choice to, and then click the "+ Add Choice" button. This will open a new field where you can enter the name of the new choice.

You can add as many choices as you need for a particular specification, and you can always edit or delete choices later if needed. Once you have added all the choices you want, you can save the changes and the new choices will be available for selection when you create or edit products.

Filtering Specifications

In addition to adding specifications, you also have the option to apply filters to streamline your view and focus on specific sets of specifications. By clicking on the "Show Filters" button, you can access a range of filtering options to refine the display of specifications according to your preferences.
