Submitting Work, News, and Pitches to shots Magazine

General Submission Guidelines

Got a new campaign that will blow our minds? A new signing that you want to shout about? Submitting to shots' WORK and NEWS sections is straightforward. Use the catch-all email address: shots@extremereach.com. This address reaches all members of our editorial team.

Submission Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email after submitting your work or news. Additionally, we will follow up to let you know if your submission has been chosen.

WORK Section

To submit a film or campaign for the curated WORK section, email us with the following:

  • A link to the film (any format is fine, though uploading directly to the shots Vault site is preferred).

  • A full list of credits.

  • A press release, if available.

We will review your submission. If selected, your film will be featured in the WORK section and included in the daily newsletter. If not selected, shots members who submitted a press release will have their film published in the NEWS section. Additionally, all films are automatically submitted to shots Vault for inclusion.

Important Notes:

  • Submit work as close to the air-date as possible. Embargoes will be strictly adhered to. Work over 2-3 weeks old will not be considered.

  • Press releases are not essential but provide additional information to assist our editorial team.

  • We focus on TV/online commercials, music videos, short films, and branded video content. Submissions outside these categories are unlikely to be considered.

NEWS Section

For new signings, hires, or significant business news (excluding anniversaries), submit a press release to us. Include the release (preferably in Word format) and at least one image (typically a headshot). If you are a shots member and the news is relevant, it will be reviewed, edited if necessary, and published on the site.

Important Notes:

  • Images should ideally be 1920x1080 pixels. Larger images are easier to resize. Landscape images are preferred.

  • Press releases should be at least 150-200 words.

  • All shots articles link internally to pages on the Vault site rather than external websites. Ensure your company and people pages are up-to-date.

  • If your images or films are too large to email, use file-sending services like WeTransfer or Dropbox.

INSPIRATION Section

As a shots member, your company is entitled to up to four Q&A features per 12 months in the INSPIRATION section. You can nominate individuals for these features, but they must be spread throughout the year.

Each of us is responsible for different features. If you are interested in a specific feature, let us know, and we will connect you with the appropriate editorial team member.

INSIGHT Section

For the INSIGHT section, pitch ideas that align with the month's editorial focus. We welcome opinion pieces that are unique and have not been covered before. If your pitch fits our criteria, we will get back to you. You can find our upcoming focuses here. Pitches are welcomed in advance of the focuses. We normally cut off submissions when the month in question begins, unless there are mitigating circumstances.

CRAFT Section

The CRAFT section offers a behind-the-scenes look at campaigns that made our editorial team ask, "how the f*ck did they do that?" You should pitch for the CRAFT section when submitting campaigns for WORK. Only films selected for WORK will be considered for CRAFT.

Pitches should focus on the unique challenges of the process, whether in concept, production, or post-production. The selection for CRAFT is made by our editorial team on a case-by-case basis, and membership does not guarantee inclusion.

TALENT Section

Please note that shots membership does not guarantee a feature within the TALENT section. Features are selected by our editorial team and typically align with the month's focus. You are welcome to propose individuals for consideration, but inclusion is not automatic.

If you have any questions about the submission process, feel free to email us at shots@extremereach.com and we will be happy to help.
